Adjusting Hayes and seat post problems

I'm running a new set of hayes on my xc bike and after riding on them for about 100 miles I've noticed that the you don't have to pull the front lever nearly as far as the rear to get the brake to engage. Does anyone know how to adjust this?

Also, I can't for the life of me get my seat post to stay all the way up. By the end of my race it's usually dropped by abotu an inch. It's a steel frame with an alloy post. Any ideas?

tighten the quickrelease up until you can't push it in then hit it with a hammer

for the brakes try adjusting the lever pin inside using a 2.5 mm allen key the (the little screw for lever reach adjustment)

Mine do the same thing. The allen bolt is how you fix it.

Just turn it until it's where you like.

maybe cut a piece of a coke can and put in between the collar and seat tube to make the collar work tighter.

Chalk on the seat post will prevent slippage.

You can make a shim out of a beer can (cooler than a coke can ) and that'll work great as well.

Put some medium strength (Blue) loc-tite on the threads of the adjuster screw this will tighten up the adjuster so that the screw does not work its way out so easily and keep your brakes in the set position longer. Works for my brakes and recomended by the good folks at overtime sports.
