stem length

what's your theory on stem length?

stems have gotten down to like 35mm, like on the FUNN serial killa. i'm running an 80mm. will going down to like a 45 or 35 mm make me a better person?

some have Zero Reach like the Marzocchi integrated stem.

Honestly? I run a 105 now, and I will be swapping in a 90 in a bit. But I will be running either a 50 or a 70 (havent decided).

Base the length on how you like the ride to be. A longer stem will stretch you out a bit, make the front a bit harder to pull up, but will make steering easier and more stable. A short stem will give you less steering leverage, but will make it feel more stable. Your weight will be more back and so pulling up will be a bit easier and your cockpit will feel a bit more cramped.

I agree with most everything BAC said. I run a 55mm bmx stem and it makes for a more cramped cockpit (medium Bullit), but in every other respect, I love the feel. What I really need is alonger top tube, to fix that though, no a longer stem. Long stems make me feel real squirrelly, especially jumping!
