where is the best place to move?

after reading about some of the perks for living in canada ( free ice cream and root beer) i have decided to move there.

http://bb.nsmb.com/newforum/showthre...threadid=18560

anyway

what if one were seriously interested in moving up north.where are some of the best places to live at?

i haven't really done any type of research but i thought by starting this thread i would hear some opinions.

i realise that just about everyone on this board who is outside of canada says they want to move there. whether it is for the shore or just for riding in general.

that is maybe 2% of why i would want to move there. i know most of you will yell at me but riding isn't the only thing in life.

some people want to move over seas or to paris,etc..

but for me since i was little i just always thought canada was a beautiful place.

i am trying to make this a legitimate question .so don't make fun of me.

here is my only real criteria.or what i am looking for in a place to live.

1.must have available jobs

2. must have a low crime rate (yeah i know.no crime in canada )

3.want a lot of acerage seperating me from my neighbors.(i hate people)

basically i just to live in a town where the work is steady.being somewhat up in the mountains away from people would be good too.

now as for careers.

i am an autobody painter but, after getting hit by a car i have a bad back.most likely going back to school for photography.

my girlfriend would be moving with me as well.
she is a environmental scientist.

i do have a few ideas of where i would like to go.

but thought i would ask your opinions.

laugh at me all you but answer my question too.

Well, I am a little partial to my neck of the woods, but if you are looking for acreage, mountains, and close to available jobs, I think Chilliwack would be a reasonable are to look at.

Or Calgary - you could explore the wonderful fun of cow tipping.

sounds like you need to be in the BC interior (as they say above) or on the Island.

1.must have available jobs

None in BC. Try Alberta or Ontario

2. must have a low crime rate (yeah i know.no crime in canada )

Anywhere in canada you are safe unless you piss off the wrong people.

3.want a lot of acerage seperating me from my neighbors.(i hate people)

Unless you are Bill Gates there is no large properties here that are affordable.

I would say if you want best bang for your buck move to Calgary. They have the best economy, mountains relatively close and good weather if you don't mind cold winters.

If biking was the only criteria for moving then North Van. is the place to be.

i love winter. so the colder and the longer the winter the more i will like where i am living.

probably an expensive place to live ? but

my girlfriend wants to move to PEI

what are your thoughts?

a lot of acreage to me is maybe like 10-20

i live in the suburbs just outside of philadelphia. so the farthest house might be 50 feet

OK I'm calling bullshit. Who the hell likes a long cold winter?

but if that's what you want try the yukon or NW territories. You won't have any neighbours and you'll get the cold weather you crave.

Become a Can-moron in Canmore Alberta. It's about 45 min (75km) from Calgary. In the Rockies with a tonne of riding! Very nice place to live.

Look into getting your working visas first, it may not be as easy as you think.

Obviously you live in Vancouver, cause Acreage is so cheap out in Kelowna.

i actually do love winter.

i hate the god damn heat and high humidty we have here. i do not enjoy days were it is so hot outside that you can't do shit.you know the days i am talking about.

trust me on this one. i would take winter all year long if i could.

i am absolutely not a summertime person.

i already assumed it would take some time getting everything ready for this type of move.

i really do plan on moving within the next 3 years. i just have to figure out exactly where i would want to go.work is important. i don't care if land is cheap. but driving 2 hrs to work every day is not an option.

everyone has their opinions of where the best places might be.so that means i have a ton of options available to me.

i really appreciate all the help guys
