-rigid man- is acting like a fruit booter
- Street Riding -

So........I'm curious, and not trying to start a debate, here goes.

What do you guys think of the progression of Street riding on mountain bikes?

Do you think it gets the recognition it deserves?

Are you interested to see what kind of stuff will be getting thrown down in new videos???

Are you tired of seeing street in the videos these days? And why?
(don't bag on it just cuz you can't do it)

Do you want to see more street in the vids?

What do you think about Red Bull doing a Street event?
(then our local Street guys (vancouver) can get the (U.S.) coverage they deserve)

How far is too far, even when watching guys huck silly gaps?

Thanks.

I'm tired of the same tricks being done in every movie...thats where the new film makers on the block come in with their new ideas.

they should have all "mountain" bike vids or all street vids. or a mix vid called "from top to bottom" ......get it, from the top of the mountain to the bottom of the mountain where there is street.

me and my ideas

there's only a select few that can ride street well on a mtb. And in the next year you will see some huge leaps in that area. it is getting so technical it is rad to see. On the non tech side, wait till you see the new ads where Porter and Chase put a 6 ft high quarterpipe against a brick wall in Toronto. Sickest "street" I have seen. It's good to mix in as far as videos go but in my opinion straight mtb street vids are pretty weak so far.

Actually, I take back what I said about buying MTB vids to watch mountain biking only... It is nice to see some street sections thrown in, like the ones in NWD series.
I don't think I could sit thru a full movie of pure mtb street extreme jibbe master extreme, when I could choose from a huge selection of bmx movies that probably are alot better.

I ride street/park on my "mountain bike" (It's not really a mountain bike anymore. Whatever, it's comfy and it doesn't break.).

I couldn't care less about the "progression" of the sport or whatever. I swear, if I hear one more person talking about progressing the sport, I might just have to throw one of my G.I. Joes out the window. Who cares, just do your own shit.

If people are riding for recognition, they should die.

The only MTB video I've seen in the last year was No Recess, and it was badass. Otherwise I mostly just watch BMX videos because they tend to not suck ass.

What I'm tired of seeing in videos these days is stupid skits. It's a bike video, not a drama or comedy.

I think the video makers should put in whatever type of riding they want.

RedBull does a street event called the Bike Battle. In Boston.

How far is too far? What do you mean by that? I guess 52.39ft is too big, but 52.38 is perfectly alright.

You're welcome.

I like street trials. That's where it ends for me.

After seeing BMX vids... any of the street MTB stuff is just too boring to watch. Don't get me wrong, there's tons of skill involved I'm sure. It's just after seeing some of the stuff I've seen in vids like Forward (to name an easy to relate to example) - everything done in MTB vids seems mediocre at best.

I would like to see more street riding in movies

some of the street riding is getting old though with the same trick over and over again, I love watching trials like super balence stuff, like the riding in fat tire fury

The biggest thing that would ever happen for our sport would be getting it in the x games, dh, street, and style trials, dirtjumps need more progression and speed trials gets boring. Hmmm maybey I'll make a thread about this.

Style is style, regardless of what bike it is. I've seen people do things on MTBs that were super wicked, and people do things on BMX that were super ugly. It's like saying "oh, New Jersey watched the stanley cup, so no other team is capable of making a nice play." I own Forward, and I still watch No Recess, and other BMX videos. By your logic, since I own what many people see as the best BMX video, I should find all my other videos boring, and not watch them anymore.

They'd never put it in the X-Games, at least not for a loong time. ESPN doesn't give 2 shits about actual riding, they just want to be able to show lots of backflips, and spins and people throwing flailey ugly variations to backwheel landing and then pedalling in between jumps on the 6 pack.
