Today I rode a rocketship

After a couple of weeks of chasing parts I finally got to take out the new bike into the WBP.

This thing is so fast, it's a little bit scary. It's going to take me a little bit of time to get a handle on it in the air. I'm looking forward to getting the suspension dialed in and getting my bearings with this thing in the air.

Coming from a previous generation DHR it's a little weird getting used to the slack head angle, and the wheel base is much longer (goodbye dreams of manuals), but this thing eats up pretty much everything.

I'm really going to have to start practicing to justify owning a machine like this.....

Don't give up on Manuals yet, my buddy rides one of these and he is excellent at manualing it.

That review weighed heavy on my mind when I picked the frame. So far the issues he pointed out that I can recall haven't reared their head. I'll have to revisit the article.

Wow clean lines. Tubes look really slender compared to some of the huge hydroformed stuff you see more commonly these days.

Nice.

Almost bought one of those when they first came out. Couldn't justify the cost of the frame alone though

Nice ride sAFETY. Very clean lines. What happened to your other machine? Did you tear it down and take the forks from that one to this one? Just wondering.

See you out there

Buddy of mine was up in whistler last week with his new green one. He's coming from a Ellsworth Rogue as his previous DH bike (67 HA 15" BB), you want to talk about getting used to... His first comment to me was how easy it was to wheely his rogue uphill while seated and he can't do it on this bike He is also a lover of the jump trails so I'm wondering how that worked out for him.

Most of the parts are from the previous bike aside from a few things that wouldn't cross over and a couple of parts I'd been collecting for this build.

On a similar note, if anyone's looking for a green round tube DHR with 2 week old linkage, I'm just a PM away.....

Woah, gear down big rig! That's not what I said, THIS is what I said. Sick bike Safety, looks awesome. The DW DHR is still the best pedaling DH bike I've ridden and was mighty fast in and out of corners. There is lots to like about the DHR.

Alas I still stand by what I wrote, and my criticism of the DHR is thoroughly discussed in the comments (although many DT/DW fanboys blew what I disliked way out of proportion).

Side note 1: I'm sad I missed all the juicy discussion that happened at the tail end of those comments.

Side note 2: I'm still hoping to have another go on the DHR.
