new kicks for Gnomie
So Teva came a'callin'- targeting 'the real deal' mtb shops to start distributing their new biking shoes.
They had a pretty attractive deal, including compin' me a pair, so I ordered in a bunch. Pricing is pretty good, the shoes are very comfortable and light, and although I'm a child of Grunge, I'm warming to the retina scorching colorways. Looking forward to an offroad sesh this weekend, but riding home in the rain last night gave me a little feedback on shoe to pedal grippiness, which seemed pretty good. Whaddaya think? Love em or hate em? ![]()

Other colorways? I like the colour you got but are there any other options? Tread looks like it would grip a flat pedal nicely.
Edit: checked online. Looks like they have the black and purple in that style which is a little more subtle. Last edited by King of Fasia; 06-29-2012 at 09:52 PM. |

I've had some for a while now. I prefer my Five Ten Impacts though because the Impacts just stick to the pedals so damn nice. But these are lighter and more breathable so I'll probably use them when it gets hotter in the summer. Whenever that happens.
I also found that although the Tevas were really comfortable that I'd get a weird cramping on the outside of my heel after riding for an hour or so. Changed out the insoles to superfeet (which I also use in my Five Tens) and they're awesome again. One complaint about the Tevas (in addition to them not being as sticky as the five tens) is that triangular part on the bottom. Sometimes my foot on pedal position actually has my outside rear pedal pins fall into that triangular void and it decreases traction. Maybe it's my fault for how I place my feet on the pedals doing certain things but it makes me question why they don't have tread in that part too. That's nitpicking though.

5-10s FTW... these look OK but I am addicted to Stealth Rubber... so grippy and durable.

Why do they think we want to dress like circus clowns?

I've got the purplish ones. Yeah, they could look better. But the Impacts look strange too. Come to think of it my SPD shoes look like ass.
Conclusion: I have no nice looking mtb shoes. UPDATE THOUGH--Teva has come out with some less offensive colors for the Links. I saw it somewhere recently.

That particular colour would look a lot less garish without the yellow laces. I tend to like teal so I'd gladly wear those if they came my way.
I also currently have Impact Highs and they have to be the ugliest shoes of all time. At least these resemble casual shoes and not ninja turtle feet.

these shoes actually come with a set of grey laces as well, so that's an easy switch Teva's accounted for which I think is pretty cool.
