Any love for Karpiel?

Rarely see this shop mentioned anymore now that Bender's more or less a "been 'der", no disrespects of course. But considering there's Knolly and Cove as the more or less non-big manufacturer brands out there, what of Karpiel? Sure, sure - there's Yeti and Intense and a couple other more "boutiquey" brands (at least in my limited perception), but I'm wondering whaddup with this once mega bike brand.

I've looked at their website on and off for a while, and I don't think there's too much going on. Shame if that's the case as I think they are pretty rad.

Ya, agreed. They were/could be/are nice rides - at least upon first browse.

Bike tech has moved passed the 8 inch 50 lb trail bike.

Be thankful for that.

I got to ride benders bike at whistler once.
The thing was completely useless. Pretty much like a dirt bike with the motor shut off.

If you search for it I think you should find some stuff...maybe on ridemonky or MTBR, I forget where I saw it and I don't care to talk more about stuff I only just read on the Interwebs a few years ago...

Thanks for taking the time... I'd like to know where the hell you've been for the last few years? Is the company progressing in the R&D and product roll out department? How come so quiet - or have I just not been looking in the right direction? I'm seeing a tonne of bikes coming out of all the usual camps, I like "unique" brands, maybe the smaller guys, whatever you call it - the "boutique and unique" LOL... So I was pondering, I was wondering whatever happened to that top-drawer manufacturer making "indestructos" for Bender from back in the day.

There you have it. If it's boring as hell, just PM me. If this is a good conduit for letting the world know? Have at 'er.

Peace,
DS

Karpiel shut down in 2004, Jan moved back home from the US to Poland. In 2007 they started the groundwork to revive the company. 2008 The first new Disco arrived on the scene. 2009 DunCon purchased the rights to Karpiel, Jan was still involved with the design & assembly of the frames. DunCon as now went out of business due to a failing global economy. Karpiel is still around, and has some new 2012 Armageddons built/in production. They make only a limited amount of frames a year, but they are available. Feel free to contact me if interested.
