This is probably sacrilegious around here... but...
I just bought an ATV. There are a ton of trails where I live for it, and not a ton for bikes... so it made sense. I still love my bike, and ride it as often as I can... however, I've had a whole new world opened up to me with the quad. Anybody know any good (purpose built or sanctioned) ATV trails in the interior? I'd love to ride in your backyard as well as mine... but only where acceptable. After all the battles I had with guys on machines while building trails out there, I refuse to be the guy who explores where he isn't supposed to be. Feel free to say "stay the f#ck out of ____", and I'll pass it onto my friends who ride too...

Being an agoraphobic adrenaline junkie would be pretty convenient, because you could get your rush from just going to the store to get some milk instead of having to jump off a mountain or out of an airplane.

I sold my moto after realizing that the local goat trails and mudholes were not well suited to the 450's wheelspinning capabilities. If I ever have time Ill be in the market for a quad or side by side....those things rule up here for the trails and conditions.

So not sacreligious.....and hey,someone has to carry the beer,right?

I've got two quads, they're the best thing for up here ever!

I can't quite justify the 23,000 for the side by side yet.

Motors are fun, no doubt. How come you went with four wheels instead of two though? I used to ride a KX 125 and a friend of mine had some kind of quad. His choice of trails was always limited compared to the bike. Not to mention puting them in the back of the truck and whatnot. Just interested in the rationale behind this. Quads seem a little bit like 29ers - well marketed and less fun. I don't mean to shit on your thread - I'm genuinely curious.

Where do you live that you're looking for trails? I lived in Vernon and there are loads of riding locations. Becker Lake and King Ed are massive trail systems out highway 6.

put a blade on the front of a quad and they make snow clearing fun or making skating rinks/ skating tracks but otherwise I don't have a use ... sitting on something and running the engine doesn't interest me

I was on a work crew where we used a polaris ranger side by side that was rented from a tree planting outfit and that thing rocked, roll cage with seatbelts even with 6 on board + gear it was way faster smoother safer than a normal quad

We've got thousands of Kilometers here, and I went with a quad because they're all muskeg or muddy as shit. You need all four tires to float around - had I gone with a bike I would have been limited to a few trails (still a few hundred kilometers) and gravel pits. Then again, my bike is a Karate Monkey with a rigid fork, so maybe I am just eccentric...

Seriously, no need to be apologetic for buying a quad. Get the best toy suitable for your area.

On the coast, a bike make more sense because you can get to more places compared to a quad (unless you're happy with cruising FSRs)

I love my rzr.


I have a Honda fourtrax TR350 too, and it's a different beast. My brother has a KFX400 race quad, and that thing is a rocket. All unique rides and all fun in their own ways. The TR350 climbs like a goat. The KFX is fast, and the rzr is a rip when I have my kids with me. Bottom line, you have to try to not have fun with any of these choices.
