and I guess I've just had bad luck. Every soldier or ex-soldier I have ever met has been a total jock douchebag. And I've met a few. I'm sure there are some kind soldiers, I just haven't met one so I will assume they are in the minority.

It is also my assumption that the military encourages arrogance and discourages pesky emotions like compassion or empathy. I'm also convinced that every single person who joins the army has a hidden wish to put bullets in people.

1st point: That's sad as I've found more douche bags in real life than in the military.
Maybe you're mistaking patriotism for douche bag(ness)?

2nd point:
Most military personnel I know/knew (including me) joined to; get college $/patriotism-
serve country/a stable job-career.
The people that join to shoot someone learn real quick that people shoot back and reassess
their priorities. On top of that basic training instills in you a sense of purpose
patriotic pride, integrity and responsibility among other things. Just like life, there
are people that can't handle the reality of violence and during this very long war we've
been in (and the two the USA is in) has also added a level of fatigue, mental, emotional
and can break the spirit of anyone.

We hear about the "bad guys" doing atrocious acts and we shrug our shoulders and think
"they're bad people", we hear of a western soldier burning a Koran or kicking a puppy
and we want his head. The reason for that is we hold our soldiers to a higher level,
otherwise we'd just say "oh, he/she's just another douche bag soldier" and move on.

When you assume you know anything about the military, you show your ignorance of how
the military works. IMO if most people served in the military for a couple years after
graduating HS we'd have a better world, less college drop outs, and a more responsible
work force.

I got a buddy who laid an R-1 down at 120mph (same bike as in the vid) when his tent poles slipped out of his pack into the back wheel,he was riding down in cali ,it was super hot so they weren't always wearing their leathers but for some reason he put them on just before the acident and credits the full leathers with saving his life

buddy became a born again christian claims as he was sliding along ... he had a flash that god wasn't finished with him
