Need advice: Elixir vs SLX, Enduro cranks vs SLX

Hi, I just got a new (to me) Enduro Comp 11 and I'm thinking about switching some parts.

The bike comes with a pair of Elixir R SL, but I also have a good SLX system around. Never had a single problem with the SLX in the past, maybe little heavier? Is it a good idea to switch the systems?

ALso, I got a SLX crank around, I could use the new rings and bash instead of S-1250 SRAM stock crank. Can't find anywhere info about the weight of this model, but looks A LOT like the Truvativ Descendant, listed at 822grams, while the SLX sits just above 1Kg. What do you think?

You have both sets of brakes and both sets of cranks, pull them off the bike and put them on a scale.

This > This because I say so.

Some people like SRAM DoubleCrap road shifters so there is no accounting for taste.

I would suggest the SLX cranks over the SRAM. Just from experience I find out of the "similar" stuff from both brands SRAM flexes a bit more when torqued.

SLX brakes feel great thanks to that sweet roller cam, feels like it "clicks" in to engaging the brake. Elixirs have held true to the feel I like, so I would go with those... I suggest, if you have the option, try both on, and go with what feels best on the trail.

Would do that if I had a precision scale and the right tools

I have owned several sets of SLX and Saint HT2 cranks on different bikes

currently have a 4 year old pair of SLX which were totally abused on FR bikes, currently installed on my 700c wheeled commuter, no issues after 4 years just a new BB every 12-18 months.

on my new Mountain bike, I have SRAM 1250 (single ring), nothing but problems to report

BB crapped out after 1 week, replaced under warranty by SRAM here in the UK.

Cranks constantly making clicking / creaking noises, crankset back to SRAM UK where they "clamped them in a vice and pulled on them" and could not find any issues!

despite having a professional bike workshop at my disposal (work as bicycle workshop manager) and following SRAM tech. information to the letter, these cranks like to work loose (installation torque will drop from 54nm to 30nm in a week of riding) and click whilst pedalling

as soon as the cranks become untenable I will get PF30 adapters and install Shimano HT2 cranks onto my new bike

I don't know about those cranks specifically, but no external BB Shimano crankset has ever given me problems.

Shimano brakes will always be better than Avid brakes. No question. Sell the Avids, get them out of your life ASAP.

Postal scales aren't that expensive.

If you don't have the tools to remove the brakes and cranks, you probably don't want to be paying someone to change parts.

Switching the brakes is easy, but I need tools for BB and the SRAM cranks. My local bikeshop is quite cheap on doing simple stuff like installing parts, so there's no problem on this side.

I'll be probably switching to SLX then, judging by the comments.
