My little monster is 10 weeks old today. There have been times that have been trying, but things get much better pretty quickly, especially once they start to sleep longer through the night. Don't be afraid to experiement, and you'll learn pretty quickly that no matter what the doctors/in-laws/strangers on the street say, you'll quickly become the expert on your own kid (ie my kid HATES baths, but loves the shower.. if he's not bouncing, he'd better be eating or sleeping otherwise he'll be screaming, which bothers the hell out of my monster-in-law who believes that calmly rocking children should work).

Thanks guys, I plan on getting myself back in riding shape so the lack of sleep and running around is a bit less painful. I have one last luxury item to buy before I am screwed out of it for the foreseeable future (haha), right now most of the extra cash is going into finishing up the home renos that need to be done before the monster arrives. our parents just found out and the baby stuff is already piling up, glad we are going to have lots of family support but have a feeling its going to get a bit overwhelming!

Wo, that was pretty emotional and deep when we had it. He is not 16 months od - and a smart, charming little "Monster" with a massive head of his own. Had his first ride on a runbike as well - went berserk when we took him away. Hehe.

You will not regret one minute spent, but sometimes it can be a bit testing. But you will see for yourself soon enough. Enter the World of Awesome - When you start re-seeing the known world as if you were a foreigner seeing things for the very first time.

A very good friend sent me this quotation back then:

Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body. - Elizabeth Stone

Even thinking about selling one is.....only when you need the money for the little one's future. Or in case you want to upgrade any of your toys.

My kid's ultrasound picture

Supposed to pick up his new dirtjumper today after work. After we pick up his DJ, I have to take him to the clinic to take out the stitches in his shin from a crash last long weekend.

From every other parent on these boards I'd like to offer a sincere - F#ck You!

With our first (who is just shy of 21 months) he didn't sleep through the night until about 9 months of age.

We are now less then 5 weeks away from rug rat number 2 and I have no idea where the last 21 months went.

Here's the only parenting advice I can offer to the OP (and it's not so much advice as it is a summary of my own experience).

- There is no such thing as "Love at first site" - until the doctor hands you your baby for the first time.
- The first few months are hard.
- After that every day is better then the last and it gets exponentially funner all the time.

ours was a bit later than than, 3 months but she's been 7:30-7:30 ever since.

If I can give one piece of advice to parents....READ THIS BOOK
http://www.amazon.ca/Healthy-Sleep-H.../dp/0449004023

It may not work for everyone but did for us.

Both of our kids slept by themselves and through the night from about 3 months on.

Don't make the mistake of having the kid sleep in your own bed, ever!

We swear by this book, and have many friends who now love it too:

My kids are up all night.

But then, they are 18, 18 and 21.
