My bad I somehow missed that. That being said, if everyone on this planet got
their fish by single line/single fishermen (rod/reel), or spear fishing there wouldn't
be an issue with bill fish disappearing. Get rid of long-line and net fishing and the
oceans would be just fine in short order. It won't help the shell producing animals from
the acidification of our oceans.

There'd be more jobs for fishermen too.

I concur. I once used a "Hawaiian sling" to off a parrot fish.

I was just talking to a buddy about this yesterday. Efficiency doesn't make sense for fisheries. I don't think all long line and net fisheries have to go, but certainly large scale production of all types.

A good example around here is the Halibut fishery. It is long line, but it is well managed, mainly fished by smaller boats (under 50 feet) and provides a lot of jobs with the money going directly to the fishermen. It is also managed jointly between Canada and the US unlike the stupid battle they have had in the salmon fishery.

you guys have to team up to go after the big boat Chinese drag nets..... serious.

They come in at night and rape the waters....leaving nothing for the local paddle boat fishermen that need fish that goes on their plate.

This is a good place to get an idea on what seafoods are being caught and managed well.
