Ive felt a few odd tremors that wasnt caused from any blasting I know of, Im sure the boss man got a few calls from "concerened residents"

Get this books: http://www.freedive.net/Bluewater.htm It has a lot of really good info.
Also, keep in mind tropical waters you'll have to deal with the local heavies so be ready
to fight for your fish. Once you give a shark a fish, you might as well never fish there
again (or at least for a while). Reef sharks tend to live on one reef and when they learn
they can bully you around they'll be on you (your fish) the second they hear the shaft

Also, read the shallow water blackout (swb) section well. Know your limits and dive with
a buddy...and happy hunting!

JBL guns are cheap, but tend to last a while if taken care of. The firing mech is a bit
heavy, so you tend to miss more.

Rob Allen and Riffe are the best, you pay for the best, but once you shoot one of theirs
you won't want to go back.

Beuchat, Mares, Picasso and Omer (what I have) are great middle of the road guns. the mechs are nice but look to see you can get the rubbers as some (like Omers) are unique
to the manufacturer.

A good set of fins are imperative. Learn to dive with the longer fins. I have the Cressi Gara 2000 HF and the Gara 3000 ld's. Unless you plan on diving more than 100'
those will do you just fine (107' was my record). A good dive watch/computer. I have the Suunto

is a older review of some popular ones. The reason they are nice is you can preset alarms
such as max depth, and duration. These are great if you're like me and forget to come
up for air when hunting or forget how deep you're going. It also allows you to d/l your
dives onto you computer to analyze your progress.

I could go way more in depth, if you want more info www.deeperblue.com is a great place
for free advice and you might just find someone in your area that spears.
