Remember this case is not exactly new and has been investigated once already. The amount of time spent in the media on voicing inflammatory opinions vs facts is shameful. i actually just saw this thread, fyi this info was available when the story broke several weeks ago. Seeing as how the officers on scene didn't press charges a reasonable person could assume they did their job and moved on. Given the propaganda most people consider news i'm amazed it took this long to become a "civil rights" issue. In fairness blacks do get screwed in the american legal system, but taking a weak case and trying to make an issue of it weakens the overall argument and allows real injustice to occur.

Is obviously aware that "officer" on scene was an untrained volunteer who appointed himself to head of a neighborhood watch, and that later real police officers attended and did not actually investigate or even detain the only person on scene. Because cops in America have no history of discrimination against visible or religious minorities.

clearly you don't understand american law. My statement was regarding the "real" police who arrived on scene, investigated and concluded that they had a case of self defense and released the shooter. Considering there was evidence of an assault and a eyewitness its pretty clear that under FLORIDA STATE LAW there is no legal cause to charge him with murder. You can disagree with the circumstances but legally there is no real case to be made. A responsible person would use this tragedy to change the laws not blow it out of proportion and start a witch hunt.

Really, so wanting further investigation isn't even warranted because according to you (via the media I presume) we all know that the police conducted a full investigation?

Sorry but regardless of what is to be found in this case Zimmerman shot and killed an unarmed 17 year old kid and I don't know what constitutes a "proper investigation" in Florida but I would think it at least involves taking the man with the gun downtown.

I think they put a croc in a room with a chicken, a rabbit, and an Amish child. If the croc eats the chicken the suspect is guilty and an investigation is launched. This whole controversy could have been avoided if both parties had been packin' heat. Both do the "stand your ground" thing, one of them ends up dead. Everything is cool - its the American Way. The fact that one of them was unarmed throws a whole monkeywrench in the works. Don't forget that the legislation was pushed by the NRA - the most powerful lobbyists in America.

so dude, who isn't actually neighbourhood watch guy, follows someone he deems is suspicious (after cops tell him not too), gets into some kind of confrontation with deceased, shoots him, walks away scott free. wow, I can't believe granite thinks that this is somehow, in anyway, acceptable or justifiable behaviour. If I was walking through a neighbourhood and some random person started following me being suspicious, I might end up confronting them too, and what, then they can shoot me cause they now feel threatened?? WTF kind of system is that?
