So you im riding in the west end, hugging the right side, and you want to over take me. you ring your bell, i cant really pull over any further. you call out passing on the left. I stay my course because i have nowhere else to go. But u insist on slicing me so hard and almost put me over the curb onto the walking path. Really? so if you want by me and we are in cars, u have the right to run me off the road. Off course you do. That is right, i forgot how important you are. Go ahead, ram my car into parking meters or run my bike over a curb. AS long as you honk, or ring its all forgivable. Or, wait until it there i no oncoming riders and then go. Or just run me. THEN ride like your life depends on it, becasue if i catch you i will kick all the fucking teeth out of your brillant, entitled, superior head. That is me, ringing your bell bitch.
Then you will all have to pay to feed me in prison.

Whew. i luv this thread.

Just a few...

I love how the red light=stop regulation is interpreted as a red light=proceed with caution suggestion.

I love how people on electric bikes will come out from from dark side streets into major avenues at full speed while looking dead ahead wearing all black with no lights and a grandkid sitting on the back.

I love how the price of someones car seems to proportionately reflect how much of the road this person thinks they deserve.

I love how the police stand around at traffic corners, sometimes four abreast, next to a cop car, flashing it's lights, watching everyone break the rules and doing nothing.

I love it when people pull right turns from the far left lane and vice versa.

I love how cars honk at me to get out of the way while they run red lights or drive down the bicycle lane.

I love being yelled at for waiting at a red light and getting in the way of all the cyclists that would prefer to proceed.

I love it when people proceed through green lights in heavy traffic and stack up through intersections so that people can't go when their light turns green.

I love how people can get a drivers license simply by passing a written test that is about 90% mechanical questions and labeling components of the car.

But most of all... I love it when ambulances, police cars or fire trucks approach intersections with lights and sirens flashing and nobody stops to let them through.

...and they wonder why people always criticize them.

You were talking about China, until I read your previous post, I thought you were talking about Vancouver. Sorry, my bad.

Small Rant.... Guys in the Lance Armstrong Lycra Suits on road bike commuters, it's true, it is possible for a guy in baggy shorts on a mountain bike commuter to out climb you through the Stanley Park Causway, FACT! You, my friend, don't need to be offended and act like a child about it, or block a pass while I am forced sit behind your slow climbing just spinning away. I am even polite about it, I ring my bell, you look back, see me on an MTB, get offended, try to pull away but it doesn't get you very far and we're back at square one.

I, just like you, want to get home at a reasonable hour, while getting some exercise out of my commute (this happens mostly on good weather days, the regular commuter Lycra wearers are super nice and share the road, the fair-weather riders on the other hand are a different story).

Small Rant 2.... Lady in a white BMW 328 in Cole Harbour, why did you try to run me over... twice? I was in the bike lane and you decided that bike lanes are cool for cars too, I slowed down, let you cut me off and I forgive you. Then you decide that Georgia is too busy and you need to turn off Pender onto Nicola as to avoid the congestion by driving down the side streets. I was ahead of you, you sped up, took the right turn at about 30K and forced me to break so hard that my bike was drifting sideways as I narrowly avoided colliding with your back passenger-side door. Although pretty cool, and attracting gasps from the pedestrians that you also cut off, it was a very mean move.

Rant over!

Sometime I ride here no holds barred and do as I please, sometimes I ride trying to follow all the rules.

I actually feel safer when I break all the rules.

I love it when I am clipping along in the bike lane and you all pass me then turn right immediately in front of me. I love it.

NV content

I'll bring this back to NV for a minute. It's sick how much I love riding eastbound on Main between Brooksbank and the bridge. I mean, the merge after Mtn Hwy is such a treat, every time. Oh, and the space we have on the 2nd Narrows sidewalk - I mean, wow..

There's just so much DNV is doing to get non-riders onto commute-by-bike. I can't beeeellieve more boomers aren't doing it...it's like a lil Portland over there.

I hear that. When I'm riding more subdued I feel more vulnerable and I seem to get pushed around a lot more by larger vehicles.
