absolutely!! but the maintenance isnt really that difficult.

.....that being said, I've had a number of people comment on how 888-like my Fox40 is in terms of feel....might be the extra special loving I gave it while I was unable to ride

I hear Fox are setting up a service center at the bottom of Freight Train this year so you'll now be able to do a top to bottom Whistler run without exceeding the service interval.

My wife took one ride on my 888 and said she needed one. So I gave her mine and bought a new one (and I'm not even going to service the old one). True story.

I had my Evo Ti V2 for a year. Just handed it down to my GF. No maintenance, just a spring swap. Possibly the best DH fork I have ever ridden.

Once Avalanche gets some new-molded lowers and drops the weight, then these threads can stop.

/rumor.

Craig at avalanche racing has now produced a cartridge for fox 40 so 2000 hours and they are supposed to feel like a dream ,a little heavier but worth it.

I have no idea what this means. I mean, isn't the Fox40 Kashima FIT RC2 just fine as is? Why the need to replace the guts and spend 2000 hours getting them smoothed out??

So not in the know... LOL

If your getting a 2012 Fox 40 you don't need the after market cartridge.

Well, great news there I suppose... Still have no idea why having a brand new 2011 would necessitate having to put new guts in it. Doesn't make sense to me - sounds more OCD than anything else. Maybe I'm offside here, but that's what I think.

Ya, the fork is a 2012 that's coming with my ride [THIS WEEK!!]

Peace

My 40's are 07 and 08 models even though i put new stantions on the first gen ones ,i broke the ti spring in them ,but since i ran a steel spring they still feel very robust . The 08 ones feel too soft and tierd so this upgrade is a must have . the only rant most of us have with Fox products are frequent maintaining and tweaking. Fox forks feel so good after a rebuild They are a race fork .
With this available cartridge it will change the game ,the previous elka upgrades did not work well . The advantage of this cartridge is to eliminate frequent shop charges and ride the heck out of it. The company producing these items do it for a Boxxer aswell
