Fromme was mint today. No snow up to the 6th switchback. Trails are dry, get out there while the weather's still decent!

Yup! I got lazy once I hit Pipeline but the only snow I saw was at the 5th SB and entrance to the trail - zero snow in the trees. All the woodwork is still damp but very little standing/flowing water - clothes didn't even get too muddy!

Tree down on Pipeline after the woodwork section near the top, can be taken out with a bowsaw. Another tree down on Lower Crippler just before the Pimp Coaster, will need a chainsaw to be removed.

Rode upper oil yesterday (sat). Hard pack snow on the road from just before the 6th switchback. Hardpack snow and ice on upper oil for about half the trail. Totally ridable, but not at too much speed.

Went up Braemar, across the BP, up the road and down Pipeline. Conditions were awesome. Trails were dry and clear. Watch out for the tree fallen across the trail on upper Pipeline (just after the end of the new bridge stuff but before you drop down to the pipeline clearing). Some of the trail features (rocks, rooty drops, etc) have changed a bit lately. Caught me by surprise a few times. Keep your eyes open if you're hitting it for the first time in a while.

A little compacted snow at the fifth switchback but nothing I couldn't easily ride over.

7th was a good laugh today. A reasonable amount of compacted snow for a while but only the entrance was super sketchy. The trail work up there is pretty sweet, the sort of thing you don't visually notice but just find that you are riding faster. Some good work on KrinkumLeopFord or whatever that set of trails are called. Cheers doods! Plenty of people out and about today.

I'm glad you wrote this. I slid out on the entry to 7th yesterday and was a bit surprised. Other than that and the snow of the road conditions were great, possibly the last ride on 7th this year I guess. People all let me through climing Griffen too, one chap insisted I go first which was very courteous but I could really have used a break! Thanks whoever you are for your manners.
Cheers, Ben

Definitely right about the start of 7th and the first bunch of corners too. The snow's packing into ice now so you gota be on your toes. The fallen tree on pipeline sure caught me by surprise. You'll need a saw to remove it though as its around 8 inches in diameter and long.

Pete Morrin rock master! Can't wait to see what he's done with the switchbacks on KK.

Krinkum switchbacks were great, though the lower section still needs some work - a few bits of broken woodwork. I went left at the trail sign at the bottom of a larege-ish wooden ramp, perhaps I could have gone right and had a better run?

Cheers, Ben

Executioner is pretty nice right now. A bit frozen for the first 500ft, then perfect afterwards. Now's the time to ride it before the rain comes back and softens the trail!

There are two routes there to connect to the rest of Kirkford; when the DNV crew rebuilt the final ramps on Krinkum they took out the black/double black arrow signs. Both are still quite technically challenging, though I think the one closer to the road is the "easier" option. You can also go out to the road by keeping right.

Looks like there is some interested work being done by that sketchy fall line section.
