Post mount adapters for formula brakes.. wtf?

I've got a set of formula the one brakes on the way and I'm trying to figure out adapters that will run on a 203mm rotor and a 36 160 talas. For whatever reason they come in more than one size.

203mm PM6"

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=76026

203mm PM7"

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=76027

I've also seen these come in 8".

Anybody have a clue as to how this works and what I need?

you need the first one.

you could also use any shimano/avid/hope/hayes adapter to go from a 160 post to 203 post mountings.

second one is odd since I don't know of any forks that run a 7" post setup. maybe it's for the rear of the bike.

Of the second version I do have a 160 to 180 post mount from Avid, so I wouldn't rule out the enginerds making all different types.

I think the Rock Shox Totem had a 7 inch post mount.

How do you know the talas takes the 6" adapter? Is there some documentation? I couldn't find anything.

My avid calipers bolted to my 180 float without an adapter. Does that mean its an 8 inch fork?

If you can't answer the question you may want to go to the LBS and get the right one there.

The Totem is an 8 inch PM. No adapters required. The Fox 36 Talas is a 6 inch PM. Get the 160 to 203 and you are set.

The Fox specs on the 36's are here. Look at note 10 in the upper right for the disc brake size.

160 mm
180 mm

The 160 will take a 6" disc without an adapter. the 180mm fork will only take an 8" disc.

The PDFs can be found under "Product Specifications" at this link: http://service.foxracingshox.com/consumers/index.htm

So, that second adapter has R on it. This leads me to believe that it is a Rear adapter for post mount to 8" rotor.

The first adapter is what you need. It is the one with F on it.

Reading comprehension FTW.
