prelude vs jetta
both are the same price
both are 1987's the jettas interior is mint so is the preludes the jetta has 188,888 km on it. the prelude has 204,00 on the body, but has less than 10,000km on a newly rebuilt engine, new tires, and a new clutch of course both are 5 speeds the prelude is a bit rusty but not major(easy to fix) and is owned by the old lady across the street for the 17 years ive been living at this house, and is a special edition(sunroof, power, etc) the jetta has no body or frame rust, some very small spot rust on the hood(very easy to fix) and has a nice cd player in it, and a small dent in the front driverside pannel. overall the jetta is a very clean car. which car would you take and why

jettas are pimp but the prelude is so close. Tuff to decide. The prelude looked nice to me. The rust would bug me though. I dont know what the jetta looks like but i want u to get a car soon.

prelude, your neighbor isn't going anywhere so you can bitch her out if the engine craps out after a week
![]() actually i would take the prelude either way.. get a mechanic to check the car out if you are serious about buying, he will tell you what needs replacing, and what kinda wear is on the serious components. |

i would never buy a car with rust. if you can see rust there is worse rust where the sun doesn't shine. (literally... not meant to be funny)

check why the engine on the honda died so early, those normally go alot longer before needing a rebuild, and this makes me think that there could be alot more wear than you think
and also, theres no such thing as easy to fix rust, unless you enjoy cuting out and rewelding pannels back in, and if there is a spot of rust near the engine run like hell Last edited by v 10 rider; 05-13-2003 at 05:23 AM. |

my dads a mechanic
he is really good at fixing rust(hes spent the last year or so fixing rust in his 61, he rebuild a rusty mgb and did alot of rust work on a 84 celica) the story on the engine rebuild is something failed(cant remember) and they just rebuilt the whole engine and replaced the broken parts and a few others

What you really need is a fire-breathing, 408 cubic-inch, supercharged, '92-'95 Dodge Dakota...
You'll need to find yourself a truck, a 360 block, a 4" stroker crank, probably rebuild the trans, and get a beef rear-end, and lots and lots of tires... |

Yeah... but you'll probably run low 12's in the quarter mile... and that's what it's all about, baby!

BECAUSE IT'S MOPAR OR NO CAR, FOO!
Besides, this is a stroked small block, not a big block. If I really wanted, I suppose I could get a Mopar 440, and stroke it out to 500ci or so.http://www.krcperformance.com/newcontent/ed.html <-- my predictions were a little lower than is probably true... |

Honda might be making downhill bikes. Get the prelude just in case your next bike is a honda. Then you can shave Team Honda on the back of your head. Then put in a kick ass stereo and spin some old school DJ honda. Then go to the honda rep and say "You gotta sponsor me for all this free advert."
