RIP - Luc Fortin - friend, mountain biker, skier, dad
Hi all. Sorry if this is not the right forum, but the issue is important to me and many in the Vancouver ski and bike community.

A dear friend was lost Thursday night in a plane crash. Luc passed doing what he loved - flying planes and making people laugh. In his efforts to land the plane safely, he did as trained and sacrificed his life to set the plane down with no deaths to the passengers. Unfortunately, in his efforts to save the lives of his passengers, Luc has left behind those that he loved most - his wife, Dagne, and his 16 month old daughter, Katelyn.

It would be great if you could help and if you can't or don't have the means, your prayers and thoughts are much appreciated.

Luc and Dagne had joined our ski club in Whistler last year and he'll be missed there for sure. Already lots of emails to that effect.

It has been astounding, from my seat in a shop, the sheer number of people who knew Luc, have ridden with him, and are commiserating and sharing his family's loss.

Personally, I'd only spoken very briefly with Luc or Dagne a handful of times over a number of years but even so, this has been a sad, somber, reminder of how incredibly small and how very thoughtful our little community can be.

Never met Luc, but his wife Dagne joined our crew for rides and the occasional visit to the climbing gym. They's good people. Very sad news.

Did not know this man, sympathies to his family,at least he went out doing what he loved.Wish we could all be that lucky like that in death.RIP Luc Fortin!
