Lost Dog: 'Hurley' - Bernese Mountain Dog (lost on Fromme)

I'm posting on behalf of the owner's friend who I ran into on Fromme today (Sat, March 26th). Apparently some riders heard a dog crying up near Crinkum Krankum yesterday (Friday). This will be his third night out there. Everyone please keep your eyes and ears open.

LOST DOG
“HURLEY”
Bernese Mountain Dog - 18 months Old

-Lost at 2:15 Mar 24/11 on Baden Powell Near the Entrance to the Dream Weaver Trail.
-Hurely has been hiking all this week the Baden Powell from Dempsey to Prospect and the Power
Line trail from Prospect to St. Maryʼs
-If you have any information or think you have seen him please call (604) 862-2056
-He has tags with his name on it and a home phone number.
-Hurley was last seen hiking on the Baden Powell between Prospect Road and the upper Braemar Lynn Valley area. We had various sightings putting him on Fromme mountain in and around the St. Mary's area. His owners live on Kilmarnock Cres in Lynn Valley.
-He has been hiked on the Baden Powell between Prospect and Dempsey all week and also on the Power Line trail between Dempsey and St. Mary's.
-He is a good dog with a play full demeanour. He has a deep bark and loves to use it. He will probably be hesitant to come to people. He is very food motivated.

Reward of $1,000

Update!

Just heard there was a possible sighting of Hurley yesterday on McNair across from the Yorkwood Hills complex lying on the grass near the bus stop (I think there are power lines there?) If in this area or surrounding area today please call out for Hurley and keep your eyes open. He has been missing for 3 nights now and we are desperate to find him. Thanks to all who have been helping us search. It is so very much appreciated! Call 778.994.6963 or reply to this thread if you spot him!! Thank you!!

Libby

A few years ago, Chris and Sarah's dog, Libby, spent a whole week in the woods up there - 7 or 8 days. She was finally spotted by the LSCR crew, and recovered in great shape.

Keep hoping. Dogs originally came from the bush and they can do pretty well out there for quite a while.

False Alarm

We have been getting advice from police and NSR that he might tend to stay in the general area he was lost in and keep following his own scent back so if you are biking on the westerly trails nearer to Prospect please stay watchful! Thanks again for all your help, everyone!!

I have never tried it, but I know people have found their dog by leaving a blanket (or jacket) with the dogs home/owners scent on it near where the dog was last seen, and have come back to find their dog on the blanket.

Shit, did you find him yet?

I swear I just saw your dog on Robson Street with a guy wearing a black Race Face jacket 5 minutes ago! I tried to catch up to the guy but got caught at the light.

Just drove about the general area for an hour. Pretty futile I guess.

Cannot believe nobody didn't have more interaction with Hurley at some stage.

Exclamation UPDATE - Day 6

HURLEY DAY 6 - Update: Hurley possibly near Bitches Brew where lots of fresh large dog tracks have been located in the mud (no human tracks nearby). Barking was heard in that area but he couldn't be tracked down. If in that area today please keep a lookout for him! Anyone wanting to hike/bike today Mosquito Creek Executioner Trail to Bitches Brew is the place, serious hiking gear required!
Also possible Hurley sighting by the bird sanctuary off Old Dollarton, homeless looking man spotted with beautiful healthy Bernese yesterday...could be nothing but could be everything, if you're in the area please keep an eye out. Thanks everybody!
***BTW, Hurley's family has two young children who are absolutely torn up about their best friend going missing...if anyone has taken him or sees someone they suspect has taken him, please think of the kids!!***
