All personal interpretations of the hit aside, this is one of the things the league completely failed to make an example of. Now whether thats b/c of who owns the Bruins and how he knows Bettman (as alluded to in a link posted in this thread), or if Bettman is just a hypocrite, we may never know.

Don Cherry is a moron.

The NHL is all about violence, and little about sport.

And yet the masses keep shovelling their money towards both.

In vancouver the stanchion between the benches is set back a few inches and has much more padding for safety. Not sure about the padding at the one at the ends of the bench though.

While some say they are tired of the violence, I would concur. But I love huge hipchecks and hard body checks. I just think that the cheep shots need to be eliminated. ENTIRELY. Its hard because every time they try to crack down on something the players screw themselves. Lets crack down on boarding = lets go face first into the boards every time to try to draw a penalty never worrying about how much danger we are putting ourselves in.

If I said make it a game misconduct every time you deliver a hard hit to an opponents head regardless of intent it would sound like a good idea. But then you would see a select number of players leading every charge head first to try and get a PP.

Hurling is fucking AWESOME!

FWIW - top level hurling players have way more respect for one another than pro hockey players. Might have to do with the fact that they aren't professionals - something the GAA has done on purpose and stuck too - seems to keep the game more "pure"...
