Help picking new ride

I cant decide on a new ride for next year, my main riding will be in the park but i will definetly see time on the shore woodlot etc.. I mainly like the jump trails, freight, Dirt M, A-line etc.. i do like ripping fast dh trails, my least time would be spent on slower or steep tech trails. ive narrowed my choice's to Banshee Legend, 2011 demo 8, Transition tr450. some opinions would be great thanks.

Out of the three, I'd be slamming down my hard earned cash for the Demo. Hard to find a more dialed package in a bike.

Hard to go wrong with either one of the bikes you've listed.

Keep in mind that the new Demo is, well, a new bike so there might be some issues with the first few batches. It certainly looks like a dialled bike but then again something can always go wrong, especially with such a new product. Also, I've been told that they won't be available any time soon (as in: available some time in spring 2011!)

The TR450 is a really nice bike as well and it's also very dialled. Transition seems to be a rad company and somewhat local. It might not be the fanciest or lightest frame but it's durable, geometry is great and simply works.

I've heard nothing but awesome things about the Legend, actually I picked one up a few weeks ago but it's not built up yet as I'm waiting for all the parts to arrive. What I really like about the frame is the fact that there's not a ton of BS hype going on. Everyone seemed to jump on the Evil bandwagon for instance before people ran into issues all the time... the Legend on the other hand has been out for a year now and while there isn't much hype surrounding the frame, it's impossible to find a bad word about the frame. Geometry seems to be spot on, the quality is amazing and it's proven to be an awesome race-machine that is durable at the same time.

When I talked to Matt Juhasz (owner of the North Shore Bike Shop which is a Transition & Banshee dealer), he basically told me that both the TR450 and the Legend are two amazing bikes. The TR450 is more of a "don't worry about it"-bike whereas you can definitely feel the race heritage on the Legend, at least according to him.

Here's a picture of my shiny Legend...

Bottom line, if you want a bike right away, go and talk to Matt @ the North Shore Bike Shop and go with either the Legend or the TR450. If you're willing to wait until spring next year and deal with the issues of a first-generation product, then you might want to wait until Specialized releases the new Demo. I'd go with the Legend as it's a proven frame, durable, race-able and a bit more exclusive than the TR450.

Out of those the Demo would get my money no doubt. Loved every one i`ve ever owned.

Don`t like the idea of the mucho backwards axle on the Banshee - but then again i have been on FSR for years now, so i like what i know.

Transition look nice, but limited appeal for me, just based on looks. Probably deserve some props for at least being a cheap dh frame, but one that works.

legend for sure. that double link floating pivot system they have is a much better system than fsr horstlink or single pivot. that banshee looks killer. i picked up a rune and its the funnest bike i have had in well forever. i wasnt sure about there bikes [not a big fan of the screams] but i cant say enough good things about this rune. you cant go wrong with any of them but my vote is for the banshee for whatever thats worth.

Well considering i currently ride a scythe which i like, and i have a spitfire which is super sick and cant say enough good things about i geuss it would be fitting to get a legend, just wanted to make sure its the right choice for me.

Demo! I've heard they're already trickling through with main batches starting January. And I'm pretty confident Specialized know their stuff with the Demo's so there won't be any major issues.

for what you've described I'd consider the new Specialized SX Trail. It would likely be a bit more fun on the jump trails and much more fun on shore/woodlot style stuff.

Might want to consider a Delirium or Podium. Both solid choices.

well i'll toss my two cents in here....sounds like with the type of riding you do you probably wouldn't really get much appropriate use out of a world cup downhill bike....sounds like you like the jumpy freeridey stuff.... having a legend in the quiver i can say it's long and low much like the demo 8 and just isn't great for jumping (it's nothing like the scythe at all)....i'd say going more the route of the TR 450 or 250 would give you more fun on the trails you usually do ride... the legend excels on steep, fast, rough, wide-open world cup style trails. For the trails you mention i'd rather take my Syren or Sunday (i understand the Syren is not a choice for you ;p). to throw another wrench in there's always the trek scratch or intense 951 if you like the VPP platform though not always great for jumping either.... OR a V10 if you want something you can dial up for the steep nasty and dial down for the jumpy shtuff...
