Specialized for 2011 - Enduro and Stumpy EVO

Some tweaks to the component spec of a couple of recognizable bikes gives them an opportunity to evolve.

Here's what Mr. Skid has to say...

Is the 36 fork on the Enduro EVO really 170mm travel? Or is it a typo for 180mm?

just to correct the article.........the paint job on the stumpy evo is actually not paint...its a polished frame, then masked off, then sand blasted, then anodized black. so super durable, super light, super trick, and yes super stealth...

No just aluminum. Don't worry though, it's light.

This is an interesting concept...

However, if the EVO design is based on real world research to produce bikes similar to what people are actually riding out there...why don't they just make all of their bikes like that?

I'm confused. AFAIK the FOX 36 is either 160mm or 180mm. But the 170mm "typo" is in there twice. I don't know how anyone could write that twice.... so whats the deal ?

It's pretty simple. They wrote it twice because the Enduro EVO comes with a 170mm Fox 36. Manufacturers can request different OEM specs from their suppliers.

Spesh is famous for having their suppliers make proprietary units; ie Fox rears w/ Brain, Avid custom brakes (Juicy4 and Elixr 5) as well as lots of forks spec'd to their liking to save them money (no compression/dampening adjustment)

It would not surprise me in the least.

More accurately they're making the odd Evo model for the hardcore end of each range. The Stumpy Evo for Super D's and the 4 Queens type madness and Enduro Evo's for people like Brendan who blow up RP23BV's when riding the Mega etc.
