Thos used cars are great but the loan rates are insane for that much money. Cheeper to go to a 60 month at 1.9 or even 0% then go at 3 Plus prime at the bank.

I second the Mazda3. I've had one for years now and can say it's a great car. Not as fast as a 1.8T, but really, who cares?
I actually just got a '10 WRX hatch, and I have to say, as awesome as it is to drive, it's just that liiiiiiiiiiiilte bit smaller. Not as good for carrying stuff as the Mazda3. |

Get something used and ideally don't finance it.
Better things to do in life than make payments. |

my TDi golf got stolen a month ago in edmonton , ICBC sez it only needs a door lock but I decided to pull the plug ...buy a truck and flog the TDi when I get it back
yeah they come with a pretty good spec for 19633$ which is 6000$ off ,an extra 1000 if you have a valid costco card since start of the year and possibly another 3000$ on a older than 2003 car you have owned for a year ... offer ends tomorrow midnite I will probably order the sport model tomorrow 4x4/v6 4spd/ex-cab/bench-seat/air /rubber floor mats which is just the stuff you really need except maybe a box liner for another 300$ ...19633$ |

The financing rates on some new cars are great but you take a huge hit the moment you drive it off the lot. IMHO, searching for something one or two years old with very low mileage is the way to go but the interest rates would be a bit higher if you're financing.
In your price range you should be able to find a one year old WRX that would still have lots of warranty left on it, just a thought. I just picked up an '09 STI and it will fit a big DH bike in the back with the front wheel off. Having said that, I think a hitch mounted rack is the way to go on anything other than a truck.

One of the new lancer wagons? I'm not a mitsu fan personally but it does seem to be a roomy car, or a protege 5?

I love the look of the lancer I can fit my fixie and my Electra Pink Fink in my Kia right now and still have someone sit in the front. I like the idea of the scion.

think you're getting a good trade in for your Rio5??
we just bought an 08 Rio5 Sport, 5 speed. (alloys, sunroof, heated seats, power etc etc.) for $9G from a dealer, list on a new one with the same spec was $21k hahaha... You'll probably get $6k if you're lucky.
