drugs take on their way to every neighborhood, in
every state of this country. It's a lot deeper than

He says it best. America in it's current state can never legalize pot because all the people in control have jailed millions of people and ruined their lives due to simple pot possession charges. The politicians have to stand up and say they were wrong.

Meaning they were either stupid or they were lying. Either way they're not getting re elected if they make pot legal.

He also says that most police know what they are doing is wrong and ineffective but they do it with gusto because if you question your superiors orders than you won't get that promotion to sargeant. He goes on to compare american style swat team drug busts like this one here with police in Vancouver standing by the art gallery during a pot rally while people smoke joints in front of them. The one cop complains that she doesn't like the smell. But nobody shoots the dog or gets arrested for smoking a joint.

ps. I haven't smoked pot in 15 years. I couldn't care less if it was legal but I have a real problem with stupidity. In this case wasting millions of government dollars on fighting something that makes people want to eat chips and play video games.

Even U.S. drug czar Gil Kerlikowske concedes the strategy hasn't worked.


"In the grand scheme, it has not been successful," Kerlikowske told The Associated Press. "Forty years later, the concern about drugs and drug problems is, if anything, magnified, intensified."

Tobacco and alcohol companies make boatloads of cash for crying out loud!

The only reason there's money in drugs is because it's illegal and people are willing
to spend way more than it costs to produce to obtain those drugs. If cocaine was
legal I bet it'd be $100/pound, even if they taxed it 200% it'd be cheap as hell.

Drug gangs only survive because they are making so much in drugs.

People kill over drugs because there's so much money involved.

People steal for their drugs because they cost so much.

People assault and kill because drugs cost so much.

Legalized the drugs and:
-more people get high
-more people die
-eventually less people do drugs
-less people go to jail in the US ~1,000,000/yr
-you could free ~25% of the US federal and state prisoners
-less petty crime
-less gun crime by about 50% in US
-less gang issues because gangs will no longer have financial backing and less people will join because less $$ to be made

Legalized all drugs, tax the hell out of it, use that money for education.
Let all the people that are prone to drug abuse either survive or die...thin the herd so
to speak.

My in law the retired cop told me that for most cops marijuana is the least of their concerns. It just looks good in the media when they make these huge busts. Because 70% of the people will see it on the news and go "Look, we are winning in the war on drugs."

As he says, it's crap. As a cop he thought it was more important to deal with the Meth labs and such. But what does he know, he was just a beat cop for 25 years while the experts hadn't been on the streets in over 10.

main and hastings is a safe zone. drug users are allowed to do drugs in this area and drug dealers are allowed to sell drugs in this area. its a mutual agreement...not legal just an agreement that you will not get arrested when in the lower eastside.
