I'm not saying they're the only ones, but when it comes to the ocean (which we
are talking about here), they are the most blatant offenders. Of course shame on
all the other countries that went along with them for the yen Japan gave them.

I just love the self righteous moral judgements we are making on Japan.

Funny how we get up in arms about the European Union telling us whether we should hunt Seals. Telling them that it's our country our rules. Yet we have no issue doing the exact same thing to Japan.

hmmm - big differences here.

Harp seals aren't exactly endangered, in fact I believe there are over population issues.

Japanese whalers operate in international waters, Canadian sealers are in our sovereign territory.

I could go on...

You beat me to it.

This isn't a matter of killing a cute cuddly animal, that is a different battle, this is
about the extinction of a species of fish. This is not a nation that is starving. I only
brought up the "morality" thing because someone brought up the "god" thing.
I don't believe in god, nor do I care if you do or not...that's your life. My point
is that while we (the nations of the world) can agree to not kill tigers, or rhinos, when
it comes to the ocean, our ability to protect is undermined by Japans oceans
policies.
This is the point I was trying to make from this post.

Only the USA, Norway, and Kenya backed the export ban proposal.

Perhaps, but that doesn't preclude the existence of things which are wrong that are not illegal.

I'm not sure what you were trying to get at with this point, but you've proven nothing.

We're not talking about whether or not we should be able to have ten wives or
for a woman to have 10 husbands. This isn't a theological, cultural or spiritual
issue, this is a survival issue. This is a issue of how we as caretakers of this planet
treat the land and the animals. It's not a small thing like how much damage Narona's
electric bike will harm Ladies only, it's the extinction of a species. The Japanese
were responsible for the extinction of the long finned pilot whale in the North Pacific
and the reduction of the global populations as well. Them killing a few minke whales
is a moral issue since minkes aren't endangered, but their killing of Blue whales
is a matter of imperative for the survival of that species.

We as a species have very little understanding of how the oceans work, and even
less of it's food web. To take a predatory species out of that web for the sole purpose
of gastronomic pleasure without understanding it's importance is not only wrong...
it could be harmful or even lethal to all of humanity.

Point? Are the Bufallo endangered? I have yet to my knowledge eating anything
BUT farmed Bufallo.
While I understand that some people look at an animal and think it's too cute
to eat, I don't really have that issue. Again, my point is that the Blue fin are disappearing.
That means they will be gone if nothing is done to manage that fishery. Capiche?

Johnny's point is the "wild" buffalo were pretty much hunted to extinction - its taken a lot of $$ and hard work to bring back any semblance of a buffalo population in North America.

FWIW - farmed buffalo aren't exactly tame. They are mean Mo-fo's.

You know - I think I am pretty much done with beef. Buffalo is native to Canada and I can get it from a local farm for pretty much what I would pay for beef, and its better for me...
