Actually no,nor have I eaten shark, dolphin, whale or Koala bear. Nothing on this
planet is worth eating if it's endangered unless you're on a desert island and it's

Seriously, the whole purpose of this meeting was to discuss banning things like
bluefin tuna, shark, trading in elephant tusks and such. The only reason bluefin
isn't banned right now is that Japan promised a lot of $$.

Slavery was legal in most countries not too long ago. Smoking with your kid in
the car was legal too, so was beating your wife or forcing sex on her ("you're married
so consent was given at the vows")...there's a lot of things that are wrong, but
are legal.

This is an example of how something so blatantly wrong can stay legal because
of the $$ of one country.

Actually as sad and frustrating as this is, I do not think that Japanese delegations have been that much different in the past.

I can remember the discussions back in the 80s and 90s when it was about the whales and not about fish.

Personally I am coming more and more to a point where I understand people like Paul Watson and what they try to accomplish when everything else is failing due to politics and bullshit.

Even other cultures that are different from one's own should be able to see that if there is not that much an abundance in any given species it is just stupid and selfish beyond reason, even more so in a globalized world.

What's amazing is that most Japanese are either Shinto or Buddhist and both believe
"killing living beings should be done with reverence for taking a life to continue one's own and should be kept to a minimum".

So according to their own tenants they are wicked.

No where do these religions state that eating and animal is bad, it's just we need
to take care of what we have, why is that so hard to understand. This killing
things
till they area all gone is antithesis to the cultural and religious ways of Japan.
Japan has become (as a nation) obsessed about money, power and self indulgence.
