You can tell it's old because his handlebars aren't super wide.

I've seen this video so many times, but in the PB comments, there was a description of the jump, which was news to me:

The Guy is called Igor Obu, he is from Germany. He flew more than 42 Meters (138 Feet)! This Record was set in 1999 at the Olympic ski-jumpers 80m jump.

Actually, he trained 3 Months on the smaller jump and did 36 training jumps on this huge jump, not falling off his bike a single time (at least, that's what the homepage tells us).

The speed at take-off was 85km/h (53mph), top-speed after landing was 112km/h (70mph)!

Simply amazing.

It was nice of Richard Simmons to wait for him at the bottom looking concerned for the rider's safety.

A bit over-dramatic, though....

What I don't get is - if he did 36 practice jumps, why didn't they just film one of those and put it up? Or am I missing something because I can't read the german on his webpage?
