Trail dogs part 2.

While some of you may remember my first thread about Chloe and the negative ending it had. I've got a new and well I'm selling my bike. Atleast I've got a hiking friend. She's 11months and is a purebred siberian, flew her down from yellowknife a week ago.

Feel free to post yours.\

Beautiful dog. Sucks about selling your bike though, why not bike with your new friend?

My Malamute is now 16 months old, and she loves running with the bikes.

This is Henry, 26 pound Mini Schnauzer, 14 month old. took to riding with the bikes with out any effort. Only time he really ever barks is when we are out for a ride.

Her name is Diamond. We adopted her from Hurricane Katrina. Breed... well her adoption papers said she was a lab/boarder collie cross. Regardless we lover her and she has made the best biking dog. I can go for a XC ride at my pace and she keeps right along side of me. She enjoys the rides and looks forward to them just as much as I do. My rides aren't the same when she not along.

She's a rescue dog doesn't come when called etc etc, likes to follow her nose. Just sold my bike, when i build up another bike she can come riding, as hopefully by then she'll come when called.

Great looking trail companions. Heres a pic of Piper, she's a rescue pup so not exactly sure of her breed mixture, we think maybe a pit/lab mix.

Sasha was rescued from a puppy mill in 100 Mile House. She's almost 7 now. She doesn't have the same top end speed she used to but can still rip.

When I adopted my dog she was 2 yrs old. She wouldn't listen, chase other bikers and try to bit tires. It would freak other riders out. I could tell she loved to run though. She just needed some time and patience around bikes. I started by taking her for on leash rides, usually on the dyke near by. Gradually we ventured onto trails, still leashed. Before I knew it she was realizing where she needed to be when around bikes. After a few months she was ready to be off leash. You need to put the time in with a lot of patience and praise. It will paid off. I cant get dressed anymore to go riding without being accosted by her a the door.

Ours is a pit/lad mix. We originally responded to a lab/boarder mix adoption ad. I now have a totally different view of pits. Diamond is the biggest suck and loving dog. Absolutely nothing wrong with pit mixes except for the misconceptions people have of them. I truely believe its not the dog, but the owners. That goes for any breed.

This is a great thread about people and their dogs.
