cops and guns and things
was driving up to the lion's gate bridge yesterday at close to 10pm and the warning sign said a 20 minute delay. though that was odd for a sunday.
get closer and traffic is down to one lane and there's a cop car blocking the other lanes, yet allowing traffic to drive around it.
the cop was standing there with a frikkin massive rifle staring into cars.
creepy. i've seen stuff like that in mexico...never in canada though.
didn't see anything in the news about it. anyone hear anything?

Back in the IRA bomb days going through the London airport was always interesting with the police in SWAT gear patrolling the airport.

I wouldn't be surprised to see that at the Vancouver airport of the next couple of months.

these measures ride in quickly the backs of events and leave slowly, if at all. that's what terrorises me about terrorism, not the threat of dying...it's really quite minimal

The problem I have with this is not during the Olympics, but after. Will security return to normal? CCTV cameras get turned off or taken down?

I have seen the same thing a year or so ago, officer standing in between 2lanes on the approach to lions gate from the taylor way side, holding what looked like an assault rifle. He was just standing, casually looking into peoples cars, it didn't seem like he was actually searching for anything
