Woodlot Harvesting (logging) in September and October 2009
***Attention mountain bikers and trail users at "The Woodlot" in Maple Ridge***

Please note that there will be timber harvesting operations taking place at Woodlot 0007 in September and October 2009. The main access roads will have logging trucks and or heavy machinery on them so please be aware and yield to the machinery and trucks. The areas to be harvested are blocks 14 and 15 of Woodlot 0007. Block 14 contains the trail QUICK HIT and the main access road up the hill. Block 15 is west along one of the access roads and not within the mountain bike trail area.

Please obey all signs that will be posted. Below you can see the area that is to be harvested. Any trails that are closed and or damaged during the harvesting will eventually be repaired and re opened by volunteers of the Fraser Valley Mountain Bike Association once the harvesting is complete.

why would they log right there?? Thats so rediculus, it'll be weird seeing that spot so open. So basically theyre gonna butchure the top half of quick hit? Pfft.

^^ what can you do? Lucky for us all they're so co-operative with mtb'ing and the few dedicated builders out there. Wasn't the bottom of quickhit logged a few years ago?

it's not that big of a deal, they're logging right beside where they logged before. Quickhit? It's 25 second trail that no one rides, big deal.

Meh.....when Quick Hit was logged a few years back it only took TheRob and I 4 hours to re-open the trail.

As Tom noted, the first 10 seconds will be within the logging area. It will be rebuilt once the harvesting is complete.

'The Woodlot' (Woodlot 0007) is a working forest and yes, it gets logged from time to time. The managers have been EXTREMELY accommodating with us biker types and contacted me to give everyone the heads up that there will be some harvesting happening soon.

Please just respect the wishes of people working there doing the harvesting and obey the signs that will be posted.

I have no problem with this. Trees are replanted & no houses are going up like at Cypress (or Burke or Eagle).

From what I've see the builders there make pretty sweet trails out of cut blocks. Im betting this will be an evolution that wil be enjoyed by all.
