Quick question from a WBP virgin.

Going up to the park for the first time next weekend.

Can't wait.. super stoked.

I can ride CBC on Seymour at a steady, pretty constant pace...but certainly not pinning it, and on a good day I can get down Pipeline on Fromme at a similar pace, and hopefully have a pretty clean run...

Now, when I go to Whistler...

If I start at the top of the Fitz chair...and ride blue/black trails (of a similar difficulty to CBC/pipeline, etc) to the village, how long is one run down going to take (assuming little or no stops?)

Now, same question but on Garbo chair?

I've heard that one run down Whistler is like doing all of Fromme (from 7th down) 10 times. That can't be right. Can it?

Can someone give me some idea of a real comparison?

I'm trying to decide how I'm going to pace myself for a full day of riding... and I just know I'm going to have rubber limbs after one run!

on average I take 5-8min to get down from the top of Fitz, no stopping, not quite pinning it but pretty fast, Ninja Cougar-Karate Monkey-Samurai Pizza Cat-HoChiMin-Heart of Darkness, usually takes me about 7-8 minutes I am guessing. So 10 minutes for average riders. That would be your best bet for lower mountain blue trails. As for Garbo your looking at at least 20 minutes at a good clip, the winning times for the race from up there is around 17 minutes and thats givin er, so longer for you for sure cause you will be stopping on Garbo due to arm pump and braking no matter what trail you hit up....have fun...

pacing yourself is a really good idea. people tend to get hurt in the late afternoon because they're tired but still pushing it.

have fun!

not even close... if your flowing down cbc nicely, i bet you'll be putting in 10 laps or so throughout the day easy.

you'll have a blast!

Sweet. Now, all I need is for the chair lineups to be reasonable. Whats the
typical wait time this time of year On a Saturday?

Oh Yeah, and I need my old 4-5" travel bike to survive the day.... Fingers crossed.

you'll be fine, whistler really isnt as "extreme" as it is made out to be, its eaisly surviveable on a hardtail even, trust me, youll have a blast. as far as line ups go, the chair i think on weekends is 10-15min? during the week its almost a walk right on, id suggest trying the gondola too, its faster and really nice if it isnt blazing hot out.

problem with whistler is that "last run of the day" when you're tired and should stop but can't cause how tired can you be if you're taking a chair lift up???

the blacks in the fitz zone and sections of the garbo trails are the closest approximation you'll get to the shore trails. The WBP trails aren't that hard, mostly just fast.

Just like at the DJ's; don't say "ok this is my last run". If you're close to the end of the day, pretty tired/completely knackered, and just had a good run, then decide that was your last run for the day, because the hill will always be there for you to come back to.
