Anybody have any experience with the new Boxxers yet. Trying to decide to go with the World Cup or Team. Big question is will the 2010 World Cups need less maintenance than the old ones?

if u dont think u want to service the WC model often enuf then the Team is prolly a better option..
the WC is just that, a elite level race fork.. either take care of it, or find something with less maintainence needs if its not ur boat... i bet the maintainence window is about the same as previous years... |

The 2010 Marzocchi forks look great. Maybe less maintenance.

I ran into someone at Whistler who was very unhappy with his 2010 Boxxer Team... apparently his rebound adjuster wasn't giving him much love. Could have just been one of those moany types though.

Wow, that is a lot of info. Still hoping to find some more experience out there, especially with the new World Cup. I get it that it is a race fork and needs a lot of service but if the new 2010 version can last a little longer between rebuilds it will be killer. Would be awesome to be able to ride a 5.9 lb fork but would be even more awesome if it would last more than a month or two between servicing. |

Ive been riding the 2010 boxxer world cup for about a month i have to say huge step up from last years makes a noticeable difference in your riding with line choices and confidence due to stiffness as well has to be the smoothest air fork ive ever felt especially once the stock grease and oil is replaced with good quality stuff. I wouldnt recommend taking your fork apart until more stores know how the internals of the fork work as well how to properly rebuild them this years are quite a bit more complicated with the rebound adjustments being located at the bottom of the legs but thats the tradeoff for basically the lightest and most tuneable race fork on the market. As far as frequency of service of the forks goes they may even need to be worked on more often 2006-2009 ran 15ccs of oil in the lowers this years only run 10ccs therefore it will take less time for the oil to go to shits, if your thinking of running a fork thats still fully tuneable light and decently reliable fork the boxxer team is still a very very sick fork, i would only recommend the world cup if you were interested in personally learning how to service your fork otherwise you may be spending a lot of money often for simple rebuilds. SICK fork though none the less.

Sram now recommends 40ccs of oil in the lowers.

Only on the spring side of the team, rebound side is 10cc.

I guess stating the obvious wasn't as wanky as nouseforaname's response - but stating the obvious isn't very helpful.
Walrus asked for a comparison between the 2010 fork - which is completely different from the old fork - and the 2009 fork. How does your response address that? Maybe you didn't actually read his question? One would assume a Rock Shox would have less maintenance as a goal moving forward but nothing tells the tale like real world experience. btw - I will be installing a Boxxer World Cup for a test shortly so I'll be able to weigh in on this. |
