Readers' Rides #5
The subject of this issue of Readers' Rides can rip. In fact he was invited to our AIRprentice comp not once but twice. He can tear it up.
He's going to roll out his three bike North Shore quiver for you when the clock strikes midnight - right here. |

Thanks for the nice words in the intro and captions Cam. You're right, it's hard to say that Covert is a true XC rig. I should have said AM (with an xc-biased build kit).

Thanks. I hit it when Digger first put it in and have been hitting it lots since it's been "dumbed down" with the less aggressive lip. It goes about the same as Brutus for difficulty. It's a bit longer, but less high.
In my NSX 9 segment I actually eat it while wearing the helmet cam on the jump. It was my third time hitting it but my first time ever wearing a helmet cam. Cased the jump and got bucked all the way down to the Warden trail. Not fun... -m |

Nice bikes, I can see some room in there for a TransAM though, that would complete the set.

I like that Double. Looks like it would be a fun bike for jumping, although I don't know how easy it would be to stiffen up the suspension for a fat bastard.
Nice writeup. |

Thanks for the comments everyone.
Matti from Switzerland, thanks man! Was here until 1am again last night trying to keep up with the service queue... Dave, next Tuesday or Wednesday am? Shirk, don't forget about Helena's white Commy. No shortage of white bikes in our house... Roy, TransAM will replace the old hardtail some day down the road... Feral, I think I've got some bad news. I'm 190 and I'm running the RP23 at 240 lbs to get a good stiff feel for jumping. I can't really see the Double working for guys over 200 lbs with the standard shock (RP23). Maybe an XFusion DH2.0 with a stiff spring would be the ticket... -m Last edited by mattj; 05-15-2009 at 06:07 PM. |

true story but meh it's all good cause matt was cool and let me touchy feely all the toys in his shop while i waited. plus he tries hard at remembering my name and that to me is a guy who tries hard at customer service! although, this article makes me hate you cause.....well cause i can't ride like you and have all those toys like you. by the way matt, my wife has approve of me getting a new bike.......next year. so i'm saving up my pennies to help you get closer to owning a bentley!!!! |
