Yes the Cyclocross is on. On Friday when riders are coming by to finish off registering for the mains and picking up numbers and so on we will be hosting the Cyclocross event. Imagine the Inter River site a buzz with nobby road bikes, shaved legs, and ANARCHY . Dave Cressman Cyclolegend will conduct the First ever Opus bikes BMX track fullreversal Cyclocross event. Destined to become legendary we will formally link Road to Mtn in this inagural event. Remember FULL bragging rites to the best combined result in the Cyclocross, Marathon XC, and Downhill. Props to the rider that uses only one bike (I think I hear Rod D gloating)

News Flash !! Rumours could be true. After serious negociation it looks like an agreement in principle is in place to have Red Racer Pale Ale and Central City Brewery as title sponsor of the Beer gardens.

is stepping up to run our First Annual Ladies Only 8k trail run. All you XC dads can come back to the site Sunday morning with the kids and cheer Mom on as she navigates the Richard Juryn trail network. Dont forget the Kids' bikes as the Expo will be in full swing on Sunday with Pump track and Dirtjumping hosted by Endless Biking. Mom as you finish up the run, grab a refreshment and pop over to our Bicycle Demo Center to head out one of our bikes and spin out your legs.

As per the question about which local hero will be at the event ( Wade, Shandro, Vanderham or Gabe Fox ); The buzz is on and rumours are aloft that schedules are being rewritten, contracts are being broken, dreamers are dreaming. While this DH event seems local in it's focus - the mountain bike world is watching. Hans Regalur (Talent Scout for Scott Bikes) has phoned just last week to dial in accommodation and race deets. Get ready guys and girls - this is going to be big!

I dont think you really meant this to be as offensive as it is but do you really expect me to be excited about a run or entering to be a pinup girl?
All the XC dads can come out and watch a bunch of girls run? This doesnt give me aot of incentive to come out.

That's interesting because I never got that impression at all.
I guess because I've been hearing about the intended inclusive atmosphere of the Festival and the women's trail run event fits right in when you think of it that way. All those wives/moms who aren't riders but are always on the sidelines cheering on their significant others finally get to participate in the festivities instead of just spectating.
The pin-up thing on the other hand...

It makes a lot more sense when you put it that way. For the record I know this is not a community of exclusion or discrimination and I'm looking forward to the event itself (which is going to be great). I should clarify that I was just taken a bit back by the way it was worded. Like Darth, I didn't really think it was meant to be offensive it just came off wrong for me.

It did seem strange coming from the people who put together the Rippers and did such an amazing job of including everyone in the community.I think some rewording is in order for those of us not involved in the planning who may take this the wrong way.

I tried really hard but failed to find a way you could be offended by that. A fitness company is hosting a Ladies Only 8K run. Is that bad?

As far as the pinup girl thing...no one's forcing you to watch it

The run isn't offensive, I think they need to pump up the women's biking aspect more though since it IS "Bike Fest"

Unfortunately it is typical now for sporting events to have bikini contests and pin up contests happen...of course they will...they want beer drinking males to come out and buy the beer...and they outnumber the beer drinking women lol.

We don't have to watch it no but do we have a choice if we want to be involved in the events and come out to see everything else? I'll be more interested in the DH race and dirt jumping thanks...maybe It'll rain and I can sit and drink beer watching wet muddy bike boys come down the race course (

) while you guys watch girls wearing their "fun outdoor girl" outfit who really wouldn't know the "outdoors" as they may break a nail or smudge their lip gloss

lol...looking forward to the weekend though, can't wait to get my 2yr old nephew out...he LOOOOOOVES "go-go's!"
