Yep, save the pet. Plenty of complete strangers to go around, but I've only got one dog.

This is a hard choice. I know my pet and what it means to me. But I dont know this random person Im supposed to be saving. What if you're saving some child molester or something and have no idea? But on the other hand you could be saving the person who cures cancer. I dont know but I think if it came down to it most people would save the other person.

You could just as easily ask if you'd save one of your parents or a complete stranger. Still pick the parents. My dog is part of my family, and quite frankly family comes first.
