Bikes for Tykes short on 24" kids bikes

Bikes for Tykes( through Obsession Bikes ) has a serious shortage of bikes.

Bikes for Tykes is a program where we bring in used kids bikes , fix them up and return them to kids in North and West Vancouver who don't have bikes. We run this program each Christmas.

We have seen a 50% increase in demand this season and are short of 24" geared kids bikes, BMX and Mountain bikes in the 11",13",15" size.

It is our goal to complete each and every request for bikes in time for Christmas

Specifically we are short:
11 geared 24" wheeled bikes
7 Xsmall (11"-13") mtn. bikes
8 Small (15") bikes.
5 BMX freestyle and Dirt

As a matter of perspective we have requests for over 90 bikes this year!

Bikes can be dropped off at:
Obsession: Bikes
94 Lonsdale between 10-6 until the 23rd of December.
604 985 2213
james@obsessionbikes.com

So if you have bikes collecting dust, barely being used, grown out of please put them to use by giving them to needy kids in our neighborhoods for Christmas.

Thank you,
All the guys at Obsession: Bikes

This comment from Sanrensho, got me thinking:
I totally understand about not wanting to let go of that bike. My older daughter would freak if I got rid of her old bike (currently ridden by her little sister). But maybe it will allow another kid to become a ripper.

James I know its' not a 24 incher, but my son David said he would like to donate his razor (duel shox and 20 inch wheels), as seen in this thread.

It's pretty old, would you still be interested in it? [sob]

Sounds like a very generous program.

Not sure how to word this without sounding like a prick, but how many families living in West Van can't afford a bike for their kid(s)?

Not all of WV is million dollar mansions. There is low income housing in the area of the second narrows and in the towers around Ambleside and Park Royal...

This is a great program.

Kudos to the Obsession crew, especially the guys in the basement re-assembling the bikes and making sure everything is tight and lubed, for supporting it.
