Vancouver Snow Show

Vancouver Snow Show starts tomorrow at BC Place.

Should be lots of new gear to check out and some deals to be had.

I have not been to the show in a number of years so I don't know all that will be there.

Anyone going?

Not on my radar anymore. It's not the same event it used to be.

Last time I went was 2 years ago and there was not a lot of gear and mainly tourism booths from the BC resorts,heli/cat operators.

The ski swap seemed decent but I was dissapointed with the absence of the new hardgoods to check out at the show.

It seemed more like the tourism ski show. Seems strange as the Toronto ski show was always full of new gear.

There were some deals to be had on Helly Hansen outerwear at their booth.

I only had time to drop off our demo skis and about 40 pairs of new skis that are in the swap and quickly set up a tent with North Shore Ski and Board so I didn't get to poke around. Last time I went it was still at Canada Place and not BC Place.

Looked like all the local shops were setting up booths with gear for sale. Saw lots of soft goods if anyone is looking for that.

As for checking out this years hardgoods I don't know who will have what. You will be able to see 08/09 Movement skis at the North Shore Ski and Board booth. They won't have any for sale as the shipment actually arrived from the factory this morning and are still under going QC inspection.

Schoenrock stop by after lunch and we'll go for a beer.

Quite a few pairs of new 4frnt skis for $150. Also quite a few pairs of new Movement skis (various models) in the $400 range. No Thunders, unfortunately.

Nope was just there today. Need to work on getting the sub floor down tomorrow for our new floors.

Yes there were a ton of EHP 190's and VCT's for sale all gone.

If there are more they will be available at the Option Snowboards Factory sale in late October / early November.

I got brand new AC30s w/ bindings for $640. I was tempted to get a pair of those EHP190s just for the hell of it. Stoked for ski season!

I was bored this morning so I went down to check out the show and wow, what waste of dough. The show is half of what it was a year ago and an 1/16th of what it used to be so its definitely my last year.

This was my first visit to the snow show in many years and I am surprised at what it has become. It used to take up most(if not all) of the floor of BC Place. It was a good place to see all the latest gear, find out what was happening at ski hills all over the place, see Warren Miller movies, etc. Yesterday, it took all of 5 minutes to cover the whole thing. I would think that Vancouver is a large enough ski/snowboard market to support a much larger and more comprehensive exhibit.

Having said that, I got to check out the new Movement lineup and I am now lusting after the Goliath Sluff. Nice skiis!
