2009 Jetta TDI = 1100km/tank
So VW is finally bringing diesel engines back to North America (no idea why they ever left) and this new engine of theirs is looking pretty nice.

im pretty sure you could get a tdi in 08 up here too.

the real question is when the tdi 4motion tiptronic tranny version going to be available in canada?

hell through that all in an audi a4 avant, and ill be buying one for a daily driver

nice. having said that, i got 947 kms on a tank in my 4.4 cyl v8 en route to edmonton a few weeks ago.

you probably have close to a 100 litre tank though... whereas the VW has probably a bit more then half of that.

VW TDis usually have had a 55 litre tank,I think its < 5 liters /100km cost me about 75$ to fill last time and I think I could just make 1000km into the reserve which gives you 150km ,you can also squeeze extra into the tank if you hit the little button on the filler neck ...its hard to completely fill a diesal cuz of foaming

I think the 2009's must have bigger tanks now if you can get 1100km out of a tank ,

the mark4's ,1999& 1/2 to 2003 have been generaly accepted to be the best years with 2003 being THE best year for a TDi

The fuel economy for the 2009 Jetta TDI is 6.8 L/100km for city & 4.8 L/100km for highway...

I'm not sure that they did ever leave. My friend's parents bought a new VW TDI like 3 years ago.

Acura will have a diesel TSX next year (it's the Euro Accord Saloon). I doubt we will see any Honda diesels until then at the earliest, and more likely in 2010. The vehicle gets 52mpg on the highway, in US gallons, which equates to about 1400km per tank.

Honda has said that they are making a diesel V6 that will provide at least 30% better gas mileage. That would help. So would the the better low end torque for the larger vehicles.

Mercedes should have their revamped Bluetec out soon, if not already.


The mid level Jetta is about $30K with the DSG tranny, before taxes. If elligible for a rebate, that should knock the price down a couple grand, which would be good as diesel engine options are going to cost a couple grand more.

Clean diesel is here, finally.
