If you get a 15.0mb profile or higher with Telus they have to send a tech out. Which means they have to upgrade the whole circuit which makes things much faster. If the line to the house is old(which can slow things down) they change it. They put a filter/splitter in the telephone box which directs the feed to only one jack(faster). Also, they use a better VDSL modem. If you get their lower profiles they usually just send you a modem in the mail.

Friend in PoCo had exactly that done. New line from the pole to the house.

I just have a filter at the box, and it was upgraded when VDSL2 service was added last week.

for the past 30 days ive been backing up 300 Gigs of home movies and pics to crashplan. speeds have been great. think telus slowed my shit intentionally? this is tonite (with back up not running)

Yep. They throttle you back if you use too much data, so does Shaw.
