Forests Closed ?
With the current weather forecast of no significant rain for at least 2 weeks, when do you think they'll shut down access to our mountains and parks like they did a few years ago ? I'm thinking 2 weeks.

Forecast is for light rain Sunday and showers on Thursday (although staying at highs around 20 the rest of the time).
We might get lucky and get enough moisture. The trails sure are dry though.

yeah i sure hope the forecast is correct for this weekend - i'm not looking forward to trail closures. bby mtn is like a dustbowl, and as it's usually the only place that's officially "open" it'll get thrashed

some forecasts are calling for rain while others do not.... I'm sure hoping for 2 days of rain. I bet Monica is hoping for lots of sun.

Lets see if this helps........
Turns out the step to go from a fire warning of High to Extreme is not just based on how many dry days we experience there are other factors. The High fire warning could last for many months even if we do not receive any rain. The just of it is if you want to know whether or not we are going to close the trails here we should be looking at the fire situation for the Coquitlam area. Turns out in the past if the warning jumps from High to Extreme in the Coquitlam area the North Shore follows within a couple of days. Lets all hope we get some more rain to seal the deal on NOT going to extreme. |

How do you close a forest? There are so many ways to get there.

Well it pissed rain all night in Coquitlam, hopefully that'll keep the closures at bay for a bit longer.

Rained all the way up Lonsdale. Should keep those $10K fines away.
