New Bike time, Need some opniions...
So I think that after having my SX trail Stolen and going back to my old 02 4x4, I will be in teh market for a new frame/rig. I'm thinking something in the 5-6.5in variety. I hate to use the term "slopestyle rig" but it seems like the type of bike I'm really into so...
Me: 5'11 190-200 depending on the season and I come from a heavy BMX backround so I like smaller feeling bikes... I'm really leaning towards the Transition Bottle Rocket, I like the idea of alot of standover and a more nimble bike. I'm not a big hucker, but I still like to do some drops and absolutely love BERMS!!!! The other bikes that come to mind are: -Another Sx trail (I liked it, but honestly I feel my 4x4 is alot more fun) -Giant Reign X or whatever -I can't find who makes it, but there's an orange 4x looking frame maybe a prototype that I have been drooling over... It's the Corsair Konig and I love it, except for the Int. Seat Tube... I'm open to used and was thinking about an older Norco Six because it's just a bigger version of my 4x4 which I'm ver comfy on, but I think that now I'd really like a full seat tube so I can actualy ride up something instead of push. In reality I think I need to just pull the trigger and buy the Transition, but what else is out there in this variety? Cheers Dave

See if you can also go take a look at the Banshee Wildcard. http://www.bansheebikes.com
It is classified as a *gasp* slopestyle bike but it is anything but that. Tight rear end, low slung, ramps up nicely and wants to corner like no other dullie i've tried out. And then i tried it in the 5inch mode instead of the 6.5... wow While I think the bottlerocket would be a lot of fun I would suggest taking a really good look at a wildcard. I think where it would surpass the bottlerocket is in day to day trail riding. |

Alot of people seem to like their bottlerockets. Apparently they jump really well, and feel really nimble.
Also look into the Banshee Rampant. Seems to be a popular choice as well. |

The Wildcard was one of the Frames I was trying to think of, thanks I'll definately give it a look...
I met a kid down at Black Rock who had a new Bottle Rocket. He said he usualy rode DJ's and was a pretty hardcore HT fanatic and that the Bottle Rocket just blew him away. Then he spun a three up the step-up there and I really started to pay atention... I really wish I could find a place to take a look at the Corsair Konig because there is something about the bike that has just been calling my name since I first saw pics of it... Damn it's a sexy rig. Any others I'm missing??? Cheers Dave

http://reviews.mtbr.com/blog/norco-2...ch-july-16-18/
Check it out, rode the bike for about ten minutes on my local trails (build was a bit different) but I have never felt a bike with so much pop and "flickablity" ...........this bike felt so awesome in the air and nimble on the ground. One word to describe the Five would be FUN. The bike I rode weighed around 32 pounds or so (maybe lighter?). I know if I was in the market for a "slopestyle bike", I would seriously consider this one |

I had an issue with the smaller clamp slipping, and I wanted a seatpost with an offset to move the seat back so I replaced it. If you like your 4x4, I'll bet you'd LOVE a Six. Last edited by NAT0007; 07-15-2008 at 06:40 AM. Reason: typo |

Straight scoop
Hi Dave,
This is Doug from Corsair Bikes. We just received our first shipment of Konig frames and do have them available for delivery. A few features to consider: Konig offers adjustable headtube angle, replaceable drop-outs (comes with Maxle), Low center of gravity (shock and pivots are low on the frame), shock is actuated directly by the rear swing-arm (no linkages),CenterBalance (instant center is behind the BB) which makes this bike very maneuverable and easier to manual, Low leverage ratio of 2.5:1 offers added longevity to shock performance and improved tune-ability, SureLock pivot system and pinchbolt style bearings make this bike very easy to maintain by anybody, and finally this bike really has a perfect geometry (low bb, short chainstays, low standover height) and theres more. Finally, concerning your comment about interupted seat tube, this is necessitated by the fact that the rear shock is actuated directly by the swingarm, this is a big performance advantage versus a limited requirement for large amounts of seat height adjustment. The alternatives to this system are to use a swingarm with longer overall length or linkages to get 'around' the seat tube. Both of these methods reduce performance. Konig frames ship with headset, seat collar, rear shock and Maxle. I think when you consider all of the above attributes, its easy to understand that no other bike in the market offers equal or more features or higher performance. |

Weird coincidence... two years ago I had my SX Trail stolen (out of the back of my truck while parked at the bike shop... no shit) and the next bike I got was a BottleRocket. You really can't go wrong with it. The BR is a great all rounder. I ride a ton of trail, pedal up, shred down. It climbs fine and it's great on both flowy trails and steeps. It's a touch heavy, but that's really just my build. My buddy has a BR that's like 34lbs and he's a solid 200lbs and to the best of my knowledge he hasn't had much in the way of broken parts. In comparison, I'm a buck 50 soaking wet and mine is pushing 42lbs. I like it better than the SX for some of the reasons you mentioned i.e. better standover. The SX has a really high seat tube. Even when the seat is slammed it's still pretty hight up there. But I like it mostly because it is bomb proof. Way more durable than the SX Trail IMO. It's a great park bike to. Mine's seen SnowShoe, Diablo, Plattekill, Windrock(gnarliest trails on the east coast.) and Whistler and it excelled at all of them. And because of it's short wheel base it's a good dirt jumper. Although I tend to gravitate toward a hard tail if I know I'm going to be at the dirt jumps so I don't have a ton of DJ time on the BR. One thing about the BR that I don't like is that the bolts for the main pivots just above the BB come loose, alot. If you run a boomerang they are a bitch to tighten. If you don't, you can just slip an allen through the chainring. Anyway, hope this helps. |

my Wildcard is currently 34lb with single ply Minion 2.35" tires and a Lyric 2-step fork, DHX air shock on rear
I just got back from hour-and-half XC ride up in Hampstead Heath, NW London (England)...big fireroad climbs, singletrack descents through tight woodlands and back through the top of London city on the tarmac I use my Wildcard more for trail riding (usually 3-4 evenings a week) than actual "freeride" and with the pro-pedal rear and 115mm fork setting its totally capable of going up as well as down..I am loving this bike for sure...gives a good fitness workout compared to a lighter (25lb) XC bike and way more fun to ride down ![]() it will also take a horrible amount of abuse without complaint, and feels like a big bmx in the air... I too come from BMX background (still riding BMX) and really like the Wildcard for its tight, nimble ride quality and non-squishy pedalling quality (something i always found an issue on XC rides with my FSR bikes) |

Although, I will say, that the Banshee Wildcard is making me think twice about the BR because it looks to be a great bike that really fits my riding style. Thanks guy's Dave
