nsmb parents

almost a year ago i switched all our plastic bottles and sippies from the "bad ones" to the "good ones" 2,4 and 5

I have since (recently) realized or felt that in 2 or 3 years they are going to tell us that sorry 2 4 and 5 are bad too.

i recycled all our baby bottles and bought glass. but am having trouble with the sippy cups for our daughter who is 3. even the stainless steel sippies seem to have plastic "sippy" lids

anyone using anything they can recommend such as rubber?

put down the foil hat...at this point, given some limited contamination from sloshing on the lid, you're just as likely to find out some chemical they use to clean the steel or in your dishwasher powder is evil...

not really tinfoil hat stuff, just trying to do right do my kids. not sure i would agree about the limited contamination seeing as every drop that a kid drinks through a "sippy cup" is through the sippy cup lid part of the sippy cup.

thanks for your input, but i am actually wondering if there is anyone who can answer the OP

And whatever "they" then say is good will later be found to be bad.

Maybe you can invent a valve that fits onto a beer bottle and retire?

Haha, I was going to say "stretch a bottle nipple onto a beer bottle".

It works, we used to feed our goats with those.
If it works for goats, it'll work for rugrats.

The main issue is when the plastics (with bisphenol A in them)are highly heated or hot liquids are poured into them.

Find some with the 2 or 5 symbol on them and only handwash them in warm water.

Thats not so hard is it ?

Hey GW, we were in the same situation as you.
Check out this place for non-plastic solutions.
http://lifewithoutplastic.com/

It's funny, with plastic we had over a dozen cups. Now that they're recycled, we each have a single cup of our own. You'd think it would wreak havoc, but it works out well. Plus we run one dishwash cycle a day now instead of two.

If you're looking for stainless steel bowls head to Three Vets in the camping section. WAYYYY Cheaper.

They also have ceramic lined steel bowls and other cooking supplies.

Here is a Canadian source for stainless steel bottles:
