I'm totally intrigued by this bike as well. Construction and fabrication quality looks super. I'm vaguely concerned about chainstay growth.

It's too bad they don't make an XL size in any of their bikes (not even their AM bike!)...

there's an 'animate suspension' button on the website so you can check out suspension action // axle path // chainstay growth.

top left of each model option.

You'd think there would be a fair bit of growth since the bike starts (including sag) with the derailleur hanger at 7 o'clock. Under full compression it ends at just past 9 (i.e. the furthest point away on the circle).

It would be interesting to see the bike in real life to see if this is actually the case or not.

You would need first-rate fabrication skills to build a bike like this that could survive long-term DH abuse. Can't wait to see one.

I still can't see what the linkage is doing to drive the shock. Anyone have a schematic?

theres an idler wheel at the pivot point, so there would be zero chain growth at the cranks(which result in zero pedal feed back)....the derailuer on the other hand.

D'oh. That's going to teach me to not update my shockwave/flash/java.

Whenever I ask about chain growth someone always points out the idler pulley. The idler pulley redirects the chain so that the pulling force of pedalling is applied from the pulley/pivot location, not the BB (which is lower and would exert an extending force on the suspension).

You can measure between the BB and the rear axle. At rest you'll get one number. When the bike is compressed you'll get another. There's no way, with that extending BB link that there isn't some growth happening in there. It might not be significant, but it would be curious to know.

We've seen this type of bike before. Some were really bad:

and some were ridden to victory (sorry couldn't find a shot of the old bike Nico used to race)

The bikes look really well made in person but they are definitely delayed vs. what Corsair was saying at CrankWorx and then at Interbike. I can imagine quality control has to be super tight on the frames especially with the chain running through the seatstay.

Pablo, the designer, definitely seems to know his stuff and they have really thought about how they wanted to do each aspect of the bikes (the pivots are REALLY neat). His explanation of how the second shock works on their DH bike is on a mad-science level (*edit: it does not make a suspension pocket like a BCD 2x4 but rather has something to do with pushing the bike forward as the suspension compressed in certain situations where the bike tends to loose momentum)

That said, proprietary headset system with no possibility to retro-fit a standard headset (Corsair's words) = No Sale.

If memory serves the Linkage system pushes the shock upwards from the bottom. As the wheel moves up/back a link that sits overtop of the BB shell actuates a second linkage that actuates the shock?

It has been since November since I looked at it.

...

*edit: I watched the video. I did not remember it pivoting around the BB shell like that but it looks REALLY cool in the animation.
