Question Fitness World good or bad?

Anyone here is a member of Fitness World? If yes, do you recommend it as a gym of choice? It is the closest to my home and I am pretty set on joining but figured I'd also post something here.

SFU gym membership is free for staff, or whatever a shoe tag costs.

Im a member at the location in Victoria and I like it but it's not worth what they charge. there are other gym's in Vic that charge just as much and are open later with newer equipment.

Was, but after my two year membership (The one that i never used) I never renewed.

If you go at peak times... good luck... so busy... but if you can get to 24 hour one or one that stays open late they aren't bad.

There are definately worse gyms out there.

Home is right next to Lougheed mall and the closest gym is their Coquitlam location (which is kind of on the border of Bby).

I am signing up as a motivational support for my better half (although I need to hit the gym coz I suddenly realized that I got fat) and she won't go to SFU, parking and travel will not work very well for us up there. Plus, I am on my way out of SFU anyways...

Dan, which location did you sign up for? What times were considered "peak"?

given that most people work, peak hours are likely before 9am and between 4pm and 8pm.

if you dont want to get sucked into a membership, i recommend the gym at the canada games pool in burnaby, it's just drop in, between $4-5 (but i haven't been there for a while). the only downside is that it can get really warm. worth checking out though.

One day of the week to avoid is Monday's, also called Guilt Monday. It's the day when everyone shows up feeling guilty about all the food and shite the imbibed in on the weekend.

2nd on the canada games pool gym. Nice range of stuff.

I always get a kick out of fitness world. I pass one on the way home sometimes, there are always cars lined up out of the parking lot and down the street idling, waiting for a spot so they can park nice and close before they start working out . They probably sit there for 15 minutes plus before a spot opens, it's not a very big lot.

I was always confused about that. People driving to the gym to workout and then fight to park. Why not park a little further away and walk the 3 blocks to the gym?

The other thing that I found highly amusing was the people who came to Fitness Quest on Cambie who lived within a 10-15 block radius who insisted on driving to the gym. Then spent 45 minutes doing cardio before weights. Talk about wasting time.

There is a fitness 2000 right down the street on lougheed about 2 lights past fitness world. Way cheaper membership, it's always dead. Not the selection of machines world has but who cares when you have access to everything at anytime.

Only bonus about fitness world is personal trainers/dietitions/and reviews are available with membership so you can manage your workout well with advice from them.

Banshee Beast used to work @ Fitness 2000 as well, don't know if he still does.

If you have one close to you, check your local community recreation centre. THey tend to be cheaper and offer more activities other than just weights.

I used to go to Fitness 2000, actually it is where I met my wife. I also used to train with Joe Sakic and Stu Hill there. Actually I never followed hockey much so I used to flirt with this gorgeous woman there named Debbie. I used to get the worst looks from her boyfriend. Long story short - the woman is now Mrs Sakic and the boyfriend was Joe - we became friends. Still hang out with Stewart Hill.

Fitness 2000 is the better facility
