Bye bye summer, hello fall and winter

With summer officially over and winter in full stride, how many of you met your summer riding goals?

GLC drop- check
Dirt Merchant creek gap- check
Basic whips -check
Riding even in crappy weather- check
Improving banked cornering skills- check
Flowing technical trails better than last year- check
Improving physical conditioning- check
Fully clicked X-up- nope, back again for next season

Overall, I was pumped on the progress I made this summer. Small steps forward, but at least it's still in a forward direction.

Fall and winter goals
Enjoy shore rides 3-4X /month
Maintain physical conditioning
Continue improving flow on technical trails.

Here's to a wet fall and winter!

Ah, I remember waiting for what seemed like forever just before spring break just wanting to ride. Even though my season was cut short due to injury, I achieved almost everything I wanted to do and I had a great season.

Raced A-line in crankworx - check
Big Creek gap on Dirt Merchant - check
No Joke rock drop - check
wood drop before small box - check
hit everything on clownshoes - check
lower joyride - check
hip in the boneyard - check
x-up - check
ride in the wet more than dry - check

Road Gap/step down in boneyard - nope
huckfest - nope

Very successful summer for me, looking forward to next season, cant wait to ski now.

At the beginning of summer, I posted my goals up:

http://bb.nsmb.com/showthread.php?p=1705183#post1705183

A-Line Rock Drop - Check
GLC Drop - Check
CBC Log Roll (at end) - Check
Do the double jumps at the top of CBC - Check

Huck the big jumps/drops on Corkscrew - Negative
Huck the big drop on Pingu - Negative
Roll the big boulder on Pangor - Negative
Do the staff housing drop in the Boneyard - Negative

I think for my first full season of riding I have definately progressed..was up at Whistler on Saturday and had a wicked time dialing in the jumps on Crabapple Hits - still can't believe that I can make it to tranny now.

I rode so many trails and tried so many stunts that a year ago I wouldn't have believed it possible..Having said that, I have created a huge mental block when it comes to doing the first set of double jumps on the Biker X course @ WB...I can approach them with speed but always throw on the brakes at the last second - so maybe I'll add that to the list for next year.

In my first official season of freeriding I feel good about most of it. I didn't have a list but I am happy to pull off a few things.

Got through the season in one piece: check
Rock drop on A-line: check
GLC drop: check
Creek Gap: check
get convinced to ride in the triple crown: check
Ride the Shore once a week: check
shock and amaze the masses with my mad skillz: uh, nope

I like this checklist idea. For the winter:

-Buy a bike with more than 5" of travel
-make sure I make the most of the epic winter dumps we are about to recieve
-break board in half so I can justify to my wife that I need a new board and bike
-stay conditioned with lots of wet wet wet xc riding

All I really wanted to do was ride more. Definitley did that.
I gained a huge appreciation for the people I ride with. They helped me over every stunt. They helped me feel confident enough to go faster and try new things they knew I could do and were rock solid supprt the whole time.
In the coming years I hope to inspire and support like the people I met this year.
