Thanks for posting this up Cam.
I agree, this is a very important meeting because it will be the last point at which the general public can comment on the Trail Classification component of the ARSS before it gets taken before council for final approval and implementation. Riders, particular local North Vancouver riders, need to attend this meeting and make their views known (stressing that you live in the area). There are still many people who believe that mountain biking is causing wholesale destruction of "their" forest and that mountain biking should be banned or curtailed as much as possible, and that means closing as many trails as possible. Mountain biking and the NSMBA have made huge progress with the District, and hopefully we, as a community, will help keep the momentum going and not let any opportunity slip through our fingers due to apathy.

There's some classic gems in that list, Cam. I won't be in town, so keep us posted

As many of you know the NSMBA has had one trail day on Pink Starfish and is planning a second.
Already some people who are involved in the stakeholder meetings are reading the recommendations as decisions. While Pink Starfish, as well as other trails, have been recommended to close this would be part of a COMPLETE PLAN. This plan would include upgrades to the current network, or alternative routes to the proposed closures. The more people we have at the meeting to ensure a plan is in place before any decisions are made the better it will be. We don't want to see any trails closed or night riding banned unless it is done in such a way that all recreationalists agree with the rationale and support them. |

What is the rational behind banning night riding?

Makes sense. But I totally agree with the comment that it should extend to all.

I think the same could be said about GMG.

i find the night riding ban somewhat amusing for many reasons.
mainly because on a normal night you could easily read a novel at the 6 switchback by the light thrown from Grouse, which are on year-round. and on multiple occasions when partaking in the evil nighttime stunt biking, i've seen grouse employees or contractors driving mountain highway at all sorts of late hours in the night. or, we could look at how forest users' presence helps to keep bears away from populated areas. and for many people, their main outlet to keep them sane and production in the winter is night riding. and fromme is the only mountain you can really pedal up safely at night. |

or how about the impact of these trucks running all day long on weekdays:
the emission from those trucks is so gross i don't see how their street legal. it makes city buses look good. |
