Apocolyptic weather
What the hell was up with the weather this afternoon. When I left work, it was hailing so hard it was shredding leaves in the trees, then the hail turned to rain and the roads were instantly flooded near BCIT, lots of lightning and blue sky on the horizon rounded off a really good interpretation of the "Chance of Showers" I heard predicted on the radio this morning.

I thought I could go ride my bike afterschool.
And BCIT actually flooded. |

Crazy ... lightning hit a pole transformer just across the street outside my office. Saw a bright flash out of the corner of my eye, then looked and all that was left was a puff of smoke. Power out in the building, traffic lights out in a 5-6 block radius around Canada Way/Deer Lake Pkwy.
Driving home, another lightning strike close by. So close I felt the pressure wave from the thunder clap in the car with windows closed! Kn.

Super sunny and warm were I was working. The boat ride home was another story. We had fork lightning, heavy rain and 9 foot swell. Kinda scary taking those waves on sideways. Then nice and sunny back home. Strange day

There was a couple of rain drops in Chilliwack, but when I got home (Abbotsford) there was over 6 inches of water in my garbage cans at the curb.

I wish I'd had better than my crappy cameraphone for the flood at BCIT this afternoon. Water over the wheelwells of cars, rivers running down sidewalks, people taking off their shoes and rolling up their pants to wade across the street to get to their cars, people with pickups ferrying people across the road.
Nice to see something different.

It was very lightly drizzling at SFU when I got up there, then rained like a jerk, cleared up, then started going nuts in the afternoon, and then cleared up during my night class and I could see stars when I went out to wait for the bus. My timing = awesome.

This is why I like living in North Vancouver - there was only a slight drizzle.
