The guy had a pretty agressive attitude, but that was it, he was asking a legit question and I guess they didn't want to hear the answer.

Sorry, I looked at it, and I see nothing wrong with what happened. He was being escorted out, he fought back and resisited the peace officers, and they used less-than-lethal force to detain him.

A big guy like that can really hurt others, and himself.

Change the context and see if you disagree with how it was handled?

Let's say he was protesting a law about minortities being allowed to vote. Or he was a KKK guy complaining aobut the black people in uniform. Would you still think it was excessive?

Nope, zap 'em, remove 'em, and let him be grateful they didn't break his arms to restrain him.

But this is just my opinion.

I gotta agree with the response of the officers after he started to resist like that.

He was also clearly looking for a fight, asking his questions in the manner, and grandstanding as he was. I think had he stated his questions more succinctly and professionally, this might have gone differently. There was no reason for the police/security to remove him at the end there except for the fact that he was clearly angry and agitated, which is not someone you want at an event like that. heckln is right, we are more inclined to cut him some slack because we agree with what he's saying, but would we feel different if he was yelling white power (white flour!)?

In short, he got what he wanted: a video of himself being 'martyred' posted online. Now did kerry respond to any of the questions? Or were they all brushed off because the kid asking ruined everything?

After reading my post I feel I need to clarify a bit more:

I just want to make it clear that there is nothing wrong at all with what he asked, merely the way he presented himself. Kerry looked like he was willing to answer the questions, which would have been good to see. Instead the kid had himself so worked up by the end of it that he needed to be removed.

The closest simile I can think of (although it's far from perfect) is the difference between Malcom X's push for black equality and racial violence in ghettos. While I don't mean to call X's tactics non-violent in the slightest, sometimes an overtly calm and professional demeanor can do more with the threat of civil disobedience than actual action can.

Because security is there to maintain control of an event where you have many people in a contained space. I doubt he was being arrested, merely escorted out as he was agitated. As long as it was not a formal arrest, they don't need just cause and the usual rigamarole, they can remove him merely to keep order in the venue.

Kinda like the drunk guy that gets thrown out of the pub while he's insisting he didn't do anything wrong, while the girl mops beer off her shirt.

And yes, I hear the skull and bones question, and would have loved to hear the answer. It sounded like he had the support of the crowd, and if he's just calmly asked his questions and properly skewered kerry, I would have applauded. But instead he was so excited about sticking it to the man by the end, that he screwed up what he was trying to do in the first place.
